YOu need to tell him that you will not be letting him on the house to make a levy.

    Contact Herbie again.

And see if you can chase ex. Presumably he is also liable for this CT debt?

The letter i sent said that i will not let him in house to Levy, eX only ever stayed a few nights so was not living here. So im liable for it.

    Thanks

    Stck with your guns then.

    Butalso think

    1. What can go to a car boot sale or on amazon or e-bay?

    2. Do you have charges on any old cards or loans that yu could rec;aim? Particularly cards, catalogues and loans as they are not held up be the court case.

    3. Ever had PPI on any of these? reclaim if possible.

    4. Read the Boost your Income thread and see if you can raise a few quid each month to subsidise your living them find a few quid to pay towards the CT debts.

I will do some boot fairs once they start down here. Just started the process for bank charges, awaiting statements from Bank.
I will wait to see what Herbie says and then go from there.

    Thanks

With the severe effects of the recession and the unavailability of cash borrowing it is the case that bailiffs are finding it extremely difficult to obtain money from debtors and they are having to go to extreme lengths to get debtors to pay. The threat of police attendance and committal proceedings is now commonplace....and debtors are falling for this time and again.

PLEASE do remember......The bailiff has no right whatsoever to request police to attend your home, and this is a THREAT ONLY.

Actually, I quite regularly come across cases where Bailiffs will call the Police to ensure there isn't a breach of the peace when they go to remove goods - Admittedly, this is in cases where they have a signed walking possesion...

I too having trouble with bailiffs saying had not recieved payment when have (paid by crossed postal orders and got letter from post office to say they cashed them). I am now trying to get back the over payment i made they just keep sending me e-mails saying account balance nil. I know that just want the money back they took from me when saying hadnt recieved payment.

I am giving them a taste of there own medicine not taking it lying down will get my money 1 way or other. The post office informed me it wasnt the first time this has happened. I contact them hourly to see if they have worked there sums out properly yet and when will i get my money back. I too went to the police with my evidence they told me to go back to the council to help me but as a convenience there computers are down. Will file a complaint to the court in the morning show them i mean business lol.

If it was council tax, speak to your local councillor and write to the revenue protection officer at the council.

The Council are responsible for the way in which their debts are collected and if you are getting the run around, suggest you will speak to the Local Government Ombudsman unless they sort it very fast.

If you have no luck on Wednesday, then come back and pm Herbie21, who will help you out. Might be an idea to send the name of this bailiff and his company, and any charges, to her anyway.
