I make it eight years old, but lets not split hairs.
Why would an engine be cheaper??
Changing the head is much quicker/cheaper/easier than swapping an engine.
In fact in theory OP's head might go again with a few valves.
A snapped cambelt it not the end of the world."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I see - basically Brooker Dave knows s*d all - but likes to challenge us in a way that he suggests he knows more. And we know he doesn't but he likes to imply that we don't...

Meanwhile, 1984ReturnsForReal (wish he hadn't), accuses me of knowing nothing, talks out of his bottom.
Impressive Guys. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Gotta laugh.
If not, go fix the guy's car for peanuts - as you think that is all it will cost - just a head, right Brooker Dave?

The zetec E belts are rated to 100,000 miles, so it really isn't the garages fault, you've been unlucky. I have just had mine done at 85000 miles, it seems that it is the tensioners that break as these had some wear, but the belts are very strong usually.0

The only one who looks stupid on here is you. You (or anyone else) dont even know the model!
Either way its minimum value fixed is circa a grand & it wont take a grand to fix it.
lol
What an idiot... Like I said you talk out of your rear end!!!!!!!!.Not Again0 -

In English - if you can, as this is the motoring forum, please explain the best procedure for remedying this problem.
We are all awaiting eagerly for your reply.
I would reply, but as you have so clearly stated, "I know nothing" - which is, surprisingly, grammatically correct.
We're waiting............. OP is probably on tenterhooks.....Genie

Nice.
So why does it need a whole engine when only the valves are bent?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Yet you seem reluctant to explain why labour to swap a head on a mondeo would not be around the £200 mark, why a used head would not be around the £100 mark and why when a cam belt snaps a whole new engine is needed?
It would appear I know considerably more about cars than you do...."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

She/he thinks the OP chucking £500+ away is good advice....
By the way the cambelt set for my old mondeo that I done 5 years ago was about £80-90 if I remember rightly. Not Again0
