  • I think we can guess, in the ball park area of life, that this is going to cost more than the car is worth - even if the OP sources a secondhand engine. So all that info at this stage is not necessary.

    Secondhand engine is the cheapest way to go - but it would still cost more than the value of the car. But it may be cheaper for the OP to go that way rather than seek a replacement vehicle.

    I run second hand cars and usually get the cambelt changed at around 55 - 60,000 miles. I write it in the service manual so I won't forget. I have never had the garage suggest it.
