Why not make standard fairy cakes, but divide the mixture into a couple of bowls and add different coloured food colouring to each batch. You could then have different coloured cakes, or even layer a small spoon of each in a cake case to make multi-coloured cake...

I remember having a cake stall to raise funds for an orchestra I belonged to. Two of the boys (early teens) made a surprise cake, which was beautifully iced. It was bought by a member of the 'local gentry' (iykwim) who wanted to serve it for afternoon tea. None of us had the nerve to tell her that the cake under the icing was bright blue!

I like the cupcake idea with funny words iced on top:D

Off topic but is it only me that gets mighty annoyed that we now are told in no uncertain terms which charity we have to support? Schools decide comic relief is to be supported so that's that. But why aren't the lifeboats, blind, deaf, cancer charities, mencap, age concern, Macmillan nurses and Marie Curie nurses etc etc thought worthy of the same compulsion? I thought charity was by very definition a voluntary act  It's probably me just being a grump:D

Hi all thanks for all the ideas. Just thought I'd let you know I raised £25 from the bake sale only ended up doing one as we decided that would be best. Also raised another £30 from a poster game they sent me. My partner and brother have also raised £240 between them for a sponsered leg wax ouch lol. Thanks again for all the help. xx
