Hi all, I am doing a bake sale for comic relief and was wondering if anyone had any cheap recipes for buns etc that I could make. So far I have got jammy buns (thankyou sainsburys recipe card), buns with icing and cherry on top and homemade jammie dodger type biscuits with a face iced on so it looks like jammy bit is red nose. Any recipes or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:money:
Mummy to two beautiful girls and one gorgeous boy.

You could make some Hob Nobs and put smarties for eyes, nose etc.
You could use I Can't Believe I'ts Not Butter which is on offer at Tesco at the minute ie 57p or something like that for 500g and their scottish porridge oats are only 39p for 500g so that will save you some money if you buy those.0 -
Oh also Asda have Smart Price butter at 47p at the moment which is half the usual price. That might help increase your margin!0

These don't look too amazing but taste fabulous & are really cheap... if you went to a bit of trouble with the presentation?...

Could put half a glace cherry on top of each bar & call them 'yummy red nose bars' ??0 -
How about jammy coconut bakes with a halved glace cherry on the top? I think pretty much anything is appropriate for Comic Relief if you stick a cherry nose on it! :rotfl:Love and compassion to all x0

Thanks for help everyone, and wish me luck cause I'm meant to be doing 4 sales in total lol, 3 at different mum and toddler groups and one at church ahhhh (hope nobody from mothers union buys them, they are scary competition lol)
Boodle do you have recipe for the jammy coconut bakes please hun? thanks
p.s. Am totally confused about how many items to make. I would say there is about about 50 mums at 2 of the mum and toddler and about 30 at other mum and toddler and (people) at churchMummy to two beautiful girls and one gorgeous boy.0 -
I'm afraid I don't as I have never made them myself, but demolish when I see them :rotfl: They just popped into my head as an appropriate traybake with the red jam and for putting the ole cherries on the top. I have found this recipe http://www.cookeryclub.co.uk/recipes/18/165 but you might well find one on this site or someone who makes them regularly might contribute a tried-n-tested recipe. Sorry to suggest and run - mention baking and my mind just runs away with itselfLove and compassion to all x0

How about melting moments, topped with half a cherry. Very cheap and easy to make. Here's the link to the Be-Ro version http://www.be-ro.com/f_insp.htm0

I am doing a bake sale as well but I am just doing cupcakes - chocolate ones with chocolate butter icing and a cherry on and vanilla with vanilla butter icing and a cherry on. I am also doing some large sandwich cakes the same - some chocolate and some vanilla because you can sell them for more money and people will buy them and take them home for their family. Good luck! You are more ambitious than I am so I hope you make lots of money!Jane

I am also making buns for a charity thing for work. Not sure if they have to be themed or what its for! All cheap suggestions welcome. It is stressful when you know people are going to be eating them and criticising. I dont want to be known as the girl who makes horrible buns !:DA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
