Hey Booky, I got an error message from your email. Should I mail them to you instead? Might be easier

I'll have to have a look when I get back from this wretched meeting tonight.0 -
Well DH was brought into company to be IT manager..he doesn't have anyone underneath him and he is the only IT person. At the time there was another IT person who was employed by one of the companies within the group. This person then got promoted to head of IT for group but still only the 2 of them employed by 2 different companies. Now of course they have made DH redundant or sorry his position redundant. Now my understanding is that they make the position redundant and no-one else can be employed to do this work..as effectively you are making the position redundant as its no longer needed. Turns out the other man (head of IT for group) is now going to have to take on the work DH was doing. To be it all seems a bit back hand and the reason they are getting rid of him is he is a big expense not because they don't need him. Just need some advice on whether what I think is correct or not
i dunno babes... sounds possibly like they are in the wrong but most companies are ever careful about the legalities of these things....
On the other hand, assuming a person hasn't been doing absolutely nothing in their role, then i suppose it's reasonable that another person has to undertake some of the redundant role...
i really don't know hun...... is your DH the kind of person who would be confident enough to ask the question? Does he have a shopsteward or anything he can ask?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

So they have redistributed to one of the what was a 3 strong workforce?
No the other man who works in IT who works for a different company within the group will have to take in DH's job as they need someone to do it. (but obviously don't want to pay DH)Sally, was the job that the other bloke got advertised within the Company first of all? That may be an important point as otherwise they can just claim 'restructuring'. Also was the more Senior Job already in existence and available because someone vacated it?
I don't think so pepe, they just promoted him from his current position to Manager of the Group (he is still employed by his former company though). No the more senior job wasn't there before as they have only recently bought loads of new companies and the need arose to take someone on (DH) for one of the companies and they promoted people within to become Group Managers for the depts (IT, FINANCE, SALES etc)(Land_of)_Maz wrote: »i dunno babes... sounds possibly like they are in the wrong but most companies are ever careful about the legalities of these things....

Not sure, he was the one who has started questioning it today when things are coming to light. He doesn't have anyone to ask there but think he will have to get advice from CAB or somewhereI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
