  • mumofjust2 'wipe the paintwork' applies to whatever room list its on - not the whole house - wipe skirtings doors etc anything painted - wet microfribre cloth or with some stardrops - well thats my interpretation of it!
'stale odours' - I am not so sure about this one - what about these refresh sparys - and putting the cushions outside on a good day for an airing - washing covers if you can take them off or just a wipe with a well rung out cloth and a little stardrops to freshen them - hopefully the more experience cleaners will be able to help better!
bicarbonate of soad is good for odours but i dont know if you can use it on upholstery!

  • Hi all

Thank you, thank you and thank you again for all of the foot healing vibes that you sent to my Dad - the specialist saw him yesterday and tho he has an infected bone, the consultant said that he was not willing to amputate further at the moment as the impact i would have on dad's life and mobility currently outweighed the future risk but he will keep a close eye on his condition - he has also given my dad a stiff talking to about the amount of exercise he takes and has told him he must be more active - so I'll be dragging him out on supervised walks as much as his breathing and eyesight will allow - think i'll also try and find some exercises he can do in a sitting position.

We also visited my baby niece's grave yesterday and put some flowers on it - I can't believe that it is 2 years already - it still seems so near and vivid - think baby Yasmin must have been looking after Dad yesterday as well.

Must go and find my list....
    I'd rather be watching CSI!

  • Good morning, oops afternoon!

I got up at 8, then went back to bed and woke up at 11, about two minutes before the flat inspection lady knocked at the door! :o She was fine about me being in my pj's tho! When she had gone I went in the bathroom and discovered that DH has left his pants and socks from yesterday on the floor! Yuck! Poor F.I. lady! DH knew that she was coming, what was he thinking?? Was he thinking??

Woah FFPrincess, the ceiling fell down! You poor thing! I remember when my sister's bedroom ceiling came down, it was very dusty, but quite a funny story really!
A big storm happened a couple of years ago and some roof tiles cracked. It was raining really heavily and the rain went into the loft and started running down the walls of my sisters room. She told mum: there is water running in my room, isn't it fun! (bear in mind she was 19, not 9!) I went in there to look and you could not find a place to stand without it feeling like you were in a shower! It was coming through the ceilng by now. She was in there just looking at it. I said: quick! Get all your bedding off the bed, and get everything out of the room that you can! She said: "Don't be silly, it's not like the ceiling is going to come down!" and as soon as she had finished talking a lump of ceiling came down and whacked her on the head! I went to my car and got my hard hat and steel toe capped boots and went back into her room. Half the ceiling was down, and the dust was awful upstairs for days! I think it all came down in the end. We took out as much as possible and then lined the floor with waterproof sheets so that the water wouldn't go through to the dining room below. She had to live at our grandparents for a few months til hte insurers sent some people to redo it all. It rained heavily for days (we had to keep bailing out her room as it was filling up with water!), and even after the roof was mended we were all paranoid about it coming in.
I love my sister, but she is a bit dippy! I don't know how she will ever live on her own if she thinks water coming through the ceiling is fun and that it doesn't mean anything bad will happen!
Penpen, hope you get that appointment. Don’t take no for an answer. Pins and needles in the arms and hands sounds worrying to me. Ring NHS Direct if you can’t get through to the docs and they will advise you what to do. O845 4647
