  • I cast on 100 stitches and did 3 rows, so that's good.

Am going to bed whn the news is over. Poor man in Ireland, h must have been so scard that his family would b killed. The policeman they interviewed said h didn't hav any choice under th circs but to steal the money, so mayb he won't get into trouble. Hope he keeps his job. Unless of course he made up about the gang!
Night all, sleep well and I hope everyone feeling poorly/fed up/miserable feels better tomorrow.

Hi Greenbee - can't say whether you should go or not, but you're not being paranoid. I went for a drink on my own with a male colleague some years ago thinking "maybe he's just being friendly" and guess what, he wasn't just being friendly. I wasn't single and it was embarrassing but not the end of the world. But a drink on your own often does mean "something".

Last time I went for a drink with a male colleague I ended up in a three year relationship! Even worse, he was a consultant working for me, so I had to declare the relationship so that there was no question of a conflict of interest any time I decided to employ him. And we kept it VERY quiet from all my colleagues, as I really didn't want them to know or be seen as unprofessional.

I'm sure it would be good for me to get out more (and it's about time I started dating again), but I don't feel that this is a good idea (and its come completely out of the blue), so I think I need to come up with a witty, non-flirtatious response that won't damage our working relationship... not the easiest thing to come up with! He's a really nice guy who I get on with well at work and often go to for advice, and I'd hate to change that! I need to find a nice way of saying sorry, but I don't mix business and pleasure... or something like that!

Have you cleaned it? It's usually crumbs that cause the problem (unless you've spilt a sugary drink on it).

A difficult situation for you greenbee, but only you know how you feel and if you dont `feel` its a good idea then it probably isnt.

You can only go with your instinct and let him down in a friendly gentle way.

    That sounds right to me.

DH isn't hugely sociable and I sometimes arrange for a group of people to go out eg to cinema or theatre or to eat. You could do something like that with work folk? No hidden agendas there.

Thanks... it would be so much easier if he wasn't a colleague, and wan't someone I liked! I just have to come up with the right response by Monday  Maybe something about having given up drinking for lent? (Admitting to the fact that I spend all my free time either in the gym or doing housework probably wouldn't create the right impression :p )

Thats a difficult one, unfortunately a mans pride is a sensitive thing! Very easily bruised:rolleyes:
