I'm working tonight to catch up on what I missed while feeling grotty... and I've just had a very strange email from a colleague...

Going to do an HHK now, or an however-long-I-can-stand-watching-rugby-K! Feel free to join me. I may not be able to get back on to report back askeep losing internet I am starting at 9:40

Toots, stop typing and have a rest.
Jo, hugs to you about OH. Am glad you've joined me on th loose change thread I was getting lonely over there! The person who was running it seems to have done a runner along with everyone else who belonged to it! I've pm'd the person runnning it to see if they are ok, and to tell them there are newcomers who would like numbers and a welcome.

Sorry about intermittent 'e' and space barplaying up

    Oooh, tell us more!

It was pretty much... yes I do have the information you need but I'll only tell you if you go for a drink with me. NOT what I expect from a work colleague (a close one at that), and I'm not quite sure how to deal with it! So as he has no way of telling whether I read it (I don't send receipts) or whether I'm on line (he doesn't have IM), I'm ignoring it. But won't be able to forever...

Why in Gods honest name would I WANT to come with you for a drink? (this would be my choice!!)

Yes I'm feeling a bit better... as long as I'm concentrating on something! I'd forgotten the previous problem... it's not the same one, but I honestly can't remember who it was before :o

And you're NOT fine... you're tired... so REST!!! Go to bed and listen to some music (don't watch a DVD or read until your eyes are completely better).
Hmm, do you like him? Are you both free and single? You will have to think about it and I'm sure you will make the right decision.

Like him... as a colleague yes, haven't thought about it more than that. No idea whether he's free and single (although I know he's older than me and has kids). It could just be a friendly invitation of course... I might just be paranoid. And I don't get involved with people I work with... particularly not people who work for the same boss as me... the politics at work are just too complicated!

I think it's probably common knowledge that I'm single... I spend so much time working. Then again, I don't think it was any different when I wasn't! But the girls tend to make a big deal out of it... I'm hoping none of them have said anything silly!

Erm... I do actually need to work with the guy

    Aye right you're fine!!

Now listen, behave and do as you're told and REST

    NOW!
  • Hi Greenbee - can't say whether you should go or not, but you're not being paranoid. I went for a drink on my own with a male colleague some years ago thinking "maybe he's just being friendly" and guess what, he wasn't just being friendly. I wasn't single and it was embarrassing but not the end of the world. But a drink on your own often does mean "something".
