anyone heard of using an egg to fix a leak in car radiator?
fil seems to think he has heard of putting an egg white into a cold radiator and when it heats up it seals the leak?
we have tried radweld 3 times to no success and presently have two tiny jets of water leaking at the front of the radiator.
anyone got any suggestions?

If you put raw egg white in a leaking radiator it might work for a short while in an emergency, but you would have to leave the pressure cap off.
Once the radiator pressurised it would blow out.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I saw this on MythBusters on the discovery Channel (great Show).
I'm pretty sure they said that it wasn't possible.

Mythbusters did actually prove that this worked. This was one of the few myths they did with an engine that actually worked.0

I think you'll get some good answers on the Motoring board and so I'll move this across for you.
To the best of my knowledge most of these fixes are limited or temporary (good enough to get you home) and I'm sure the readers there will be able to help you out.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Chances are if it already has 2 leaks some more on on the way.
Having worked for the AA on patrol (in a former life!) the amount of 'temporary' fixes that people use and then blame the car when it fails again is unbelieveable.
Why not get it fixed properly? :rolleyes:0 -
to be honest we are skint and looking for the cheapest option. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090
