The £2 chicken offer ends today. There is a long thread about this on the Grabbit board. If you go tonight they might still have some but don't make a special trip Friday or you might be disapointed.0

No, I wouldn't. I only buy free-range.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500
June £511.99/£480 July £311.56/£4800 -
I ONLY buy those frozen parts. I never succeed in cooking anything as big as a chiken or using the oven
. I don't care whether they are happy or not.

I only buy free range eggs, in fact am off back to netto tomorrow as bought 6 under a sign saying free range, got them home and on closer inspection they definately not that:mad: If I buy fresh chicken it is always free range, but very rarely eat it now due to cost. However when it comes to chicken that I will put a sauce (korma, tomatoe etc) on for the kids I do use frozen which is not right I know but cant justify the expense of free range when they will not taste it.
After reading this back I am now going to look for an alternative to chicken for these kinds of dishes.0 -
I've bought both. For convince I buy frozen chicken breasts, the value ones are ok but more watery than the healthy eating ones, ok if you need them to be cheap though. Whole chickens are great but I tend to use them only for roasts - haven't bought a value one but have bought s@insbury's special purchase ones.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Once again, life vomits on my eiderdown. Never mind, I will just get the usual SmartPrice one. Last time, it only cost me £2.57. Friday is my usual weekly shopping night. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Yes buy the value chicken legs for the dog! Cooked them in the slowcooker smelt fine, DH tasted them and said taste like chicken. We normally have free range from the butcher. The dog loves it!(value chicken) To be honest I really do not like any of tescos meat which is why I go the the butchers. The dog is less fussy!!0

I buy the drumsticks, thighs and any other value meat - all fine.
I buy Value Mince and simply drain the fat of with a sieve.
I cannot justify paying the prices that organic or free range meat is sold for. It's not paranoia if they really are after you.0 -
I would prefer to buy meat from my local butcher even if the quantity has to be less simply because it is good quality. I would steer clear of value and/or frozen bags of chicken bits.0
