Sounds like your talking sh*t to be honest. Whilst they may think that, I doubt they would be making comment like that in front of people like your self... Obviously someone would whilstleblow!

Remember Gerald Ratner ? If you don't - Google him !

    Have a read of these:-

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...us-gaffes.html

Success in business goes to people's heads, they actually think that their past success means that they can say things like that and get away with it - they soon learn.

PS: Why do you have to swear ? "Making a comment like that in front of people - Obviously someone would whistleblow !"

Whatever the merits of fixing or not, I simply do not believe the OP.

If it were true,(and made the OP sick) a call to the one of the tabloids would start an investigation and as said above the Gerald Ratner effect would strike.

For once Cardew, I must disagree with you - I really can see some red-bracered, greasy haired, sun glasses wearing, Impreza driving little **** coming out with something like that - to impress the others !
  • I just thought I would reiterate what we've said before on this. Whether or not you're saving money depends on when you capped. If you capped at the time Martin suggested you should be saving money now. Independant research from Uswitch also supports this.

"With household energy prices now expected to fall, what should consumers who signed up to a fixed price energy plan to protect themselves from rising prices do now? According to uSwitch.com, those who were savvy enough to sign up to a competitive fixed price plan last summer[1] are sitting pretty - prices would need to drop by £185 or 16% on average before it's worth them moving[2]"
  • IIRC, though, it wasn't long after Martin appeared on gmtv shouting 'cap, cap' etc that the energy companies cynically stopped their 'good guy' caps/fixed deals and brought out rip-off ones. I thnk the problem was, again IIRC, that some of these very poor deals had escaped before Martin could appear on gmtv again and warn people not to sign up with them?

  • The article was being dated daily at that time and included detailed info about the caps that were still available and ones that were not as good or straightforward capped tariffs.
  • Well I have not checked all the figures but if people fixed at decent rates then they probably did ok. Having waited for ever it seems for my prices to fall, I discover that on my BG Click 6 tariff, elec prices are unchanged and gas prices get nowhere near the well publicised 10% level. Tier 1 falls by 0.0154% (joke surely) and Tier 2 falls by 5.53%. We are being taken for mugs again it seems

I think the last of the "decent" capped/fixed rated went about a month after Martin was on GMTV so if people took that long to think about it then they may have come unstuck, the people that capped when Martin suggested it should be ok.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
