Hello all,
Been a lurker for a long time but had to register to let everyone know this.
I was at a function/meal yesterday where all of the management of the major energy companies get together to discuss the market (my wife works for N Power)
Before the meal two of the head managers proposed a toast to Martin Lewis because of all the money he has made them (and guaranteed for the next couple of years) by having people fix on higher prices when they were at there peak.
Made me sick, I wanted to leave but I had to stay with the wife.

I think I did mention that possibility in the midst of the panic over energy prices last year: I didn't fix !

We did not fix either.
Quite funny though that the "MoneySavingExpert" is being toasted to by the energy companies.0 -
Just how high up in n power is your missus? Sounds like your talking sh*t to be honest. Whilst they may think that, I doubt they would be making comment like that in front of people like your self... Obviously someone would whilstleblow!Sunny in Southampton.0

dont hold back tommy...... oops too late..! :rotfl:There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

Sounds massively unlikely to me.
But more importantly, the toast is inaccurate in two major respects:
1) Martin didn't have people "fix on higher prices when they were at there [wince] peak". He told people to fix before the rises. When those deals had gone he told people not to switch to fixed deals. Makes more sense now doesn't it?
2) It doesn't guarantee them anything "for the next couple of years". Anyone willing to switch once on the basis that they thought prices would go up will be happy to switch again when prices come down.0 -

(Even though I criticised Martin on here at the time)Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I fixed pre price hikes and have been better off until recently. According to comparison sites, my gas price still can't be bettered but I could save if I switched electricity. Am thinking of doing this post-price drops, paying the penalty and recouping through cashback. Not sure how many people who fixed are worse off, but not all of us.0

Do you mean register under another user name?Been a lurker for a long time but had to register to let everyone know this.0 -
Didn't fix either. But they were going on till 2010 / 2011 iirc.0

But most idiots who are suckled by Martin are too greedy to think for themselves or read the same-size-as-the-rest print that lists the qualifications.0
