Hmm, if you go to the progam folder for it and just delete it, then install again, should work."Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."- Albert Einstein0

Just something to try...turn the power off to your router for a couple of minutes and then repower it...then reboot your pc and see if it connects...Disclaimer :- the above is posted for entertainment purposes only...:)0 -

Hi Ascended yes I tried and failed. Did take me a little while to sort the malware out... Burnt some midnight oil last night and will be back in the wifi vicinity from 8 pm. After looking at some forums, the general problem is alarmingly universal, there is another thread going on here since yesterday also??? Any further help will obviously be appreciated. I will reiterate my OS is Vista
Just a thought........ Is the model details relevant here if so I have an Advent 7203If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0 -

I remember when i first got vista and i had to wait around 10 mins for it to find my net connection..i couldnt touch anything, not even the start button or it wouldnt find it. It was really odd.
I wouldnt rule out the possibility of your wireless being incompatable with your router, but ive yet to find any evidence. Although it could be a driver issue. Maybe try, in Device Manager, uninstall it, restart the computer, let windows find your card and then install it again.
Also, dont install any utilities that come with your wireless, these can conflict alot, just let windows configure your network settings. That way theres no conflicting software to wade through.
Let me know how it turns out.

Thanks for your help to dateI remember when i first got vista and i had to wait around 10 mins for it to find my net connection..i couldnt touch anything, not even the start button or it wouldnt find it. It was really odd. I have tried this a couple of times without any luck

Maybe try, in Device Manager, uninstall it, restart the computer, let windows find your card and then install it again. Ok, I have just completed that and let it find it's own route but although it says connected, it won't access the net
Also, dont install any utilities that come with your wireless, these can conflict alot, just let windows configure your network settings. That way theres no conflicting software to wade through. Fair enough
Let me know how it turns out. I wish I could jump up and down but there's no change. Is there anything else I can do

Your very welcom, i just hope we can get it fixed for you
Ok, in network sharing center, does it look like:
Your Computer
Router
Internet
with no red crosses or anything?
If so then you have a connection, so go to (in internet explorer or control panel) Tools > Internet Options and to the Advanced tab and then, above the OK/Cancel buttons, hit the Reset button, itll restore IE to its default settings.
If theres no connection or limited; just below the image i so skillfully made for you above, theres a Customize link, click that and set it to private and hit OK.
Wait a few mins, then try to connect to the internet using IE.

PS: I dont use vista, im just looking at my wifes laptop as hers connects to my network in the same way as yours will to your network."Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."- Albert Einstein0
