sell it or scrap it?

Hello,

I am trying to make a decision on whether it is worth trying to sell my car or scrap it.

Car info:
K Reg
Citroen AX Debut
Tax ends 28/02/09
MOT runs out end of August 2009
83,250miles
8 previous owners (lol) so no service history
Front passenger window wind down mechanism has broken
roof leaks a little if there is heavy rain
Front left tyre needs replacing
Car "knocks" if you go around a corner above 10 miles an hour

If I do decide to sell it am I being reasonable by asking £225 with 6 months tax or should I just scrap it?

I bought it 6 months ago for £395 and everything went wrong with it a week after buying it:rolleyes: I just want to make some sort of return on it.... am I being a bit too optimistic?
DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz
DD1 arrived 20/05/09 10lb3oz

Well, you could get a refund on the tax & insurance.
You could also offer it of freecycle if you want someone to take it away for nothing.

Sounds as if a bearing is away in it. If you can get that done very cheap it might might be worth keeping it. The trouble is what else will it cost to keep going. If that is the only real problem and is fixed it is worth wht you are asking.

If it was me I would probably do the job myself but if you can't then the cost could be prohibative.
  • drop links are xheap, if it still runs fine i would keep it until mot time and see what the cost to repair is then

when you say roof do you mean sunroof? if so thrse need cleanining every now and then to keep them water tight

Return the tax disc to DVLA with application form used to be the way, maybe it's changed.
Just re read -It's expired as far as refunds are concerned.

    What engine is in that?

Some of them were crackers, and will probably outlive me and you if maintained (1.5 diesel, for example,) so if you could sort out the niggles, maybe worthwhile.

The knocking when turning sounds more like a CV joint than a bearing. Could be pricey. But if you're just going to run it until it dies.... then get the rubber boots renewed and regrease and away...
