I'm confused. So you think all sharp instruments should be banned?
What actually do you propose to be the rules?0 -

A search on attack +teddybear +2009 has 424,000 results - I always knew they were evil!
Bottom line is knives, in the wrong hands are very bad - but they'll those wrong hands will always find a means - there's been alot of moral panic recently about crime when in real terms there's not been any increase.
Ebay have been notorious for saying things are banned but not able to enforce as it adopts an open market approach0 -

Curse those bears. He's sleeping on the landing tonight...0 -
yes, OPEN MARKET POLICY! That's the nice set of weasel words that GreedBay always wheel out on these occasions.
- "We just rent out the rooms"
- "We just sell the weapons"
- "Only Obeying Orders"
Even my local car boot has a man who walks around, looking at the stalls, checking for fake DVDs etc. I cannot see that happening on GreedBay, they have the sign of the gate and that is it - you are actually dissuaded from attempting to assist in the policing by their useless reporting system and, as you go in, they shout
IF YOU ARE SELLING KNIVES, PUT YOUR STALL OVER THERE WITH THE SHARPENED FRUIT AND POINTYSTICK SELLERS.I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
OK, now understand that you have a beef against ebay.
You are sounding slightly nutty like. WHAT DO YOU PROPOSE TO STOP SHARP OBJECTS BEING SOLD?0 -
They did say on Watchdog it may take a while to come into effect.
In all the bizarre and inane ranting, it would appear that STS has not acknowledged this post.
I also recall on Watchdog, the eBay rep saying that they would be communicationg and working with the current sellers to bring the amount of (non-kitchen) knives to 0 over a period of time..."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Sorry for the delay in replying - I DO happen to have a bit of a life apart from posting "bizarre and inane ranting".
I did not see the Watchdog Program for the same reason - was it recent? Did they state why they were continuing to permit listings under such categories as KNIVES & SWORDS and HUNTING KNIVES ? Or when these categories would be ended?
Did they state when the listings would end? I note that recent listings such as #300295532124: - "Sheffield made hunting/bushcraft knife, new."
have just been made. So, what timescale did they suggest for the ending of these? When they had made LOADS of money from listings, or just POTS of money?
Its funny as I see that MY EBAY reers to Change to policy regarding sale of knives on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie 09/02/09, and I quote...
We wanted to inform you of a change to our policies regarding the sale of knives.
All knives except cutlery will be banned from sale on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie.
This will impact UK, Irish and international sellers who currently list knives for sale to buyers on the eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie sites.
Over the last year we have made several changes to our policies regarding sales of knives and also Samurai swords to ensure that only legal knives are available on the UK and Irish sites. However, the criteria for what constitutes a legal knife are increasingly complex, and this step is necessary to help further protect our members and provide them with the highest safety standards.
We will be updating this AB post shortly to ensure that any sellers of knives have full notice, details and timings for the changes.
Thank you for your support in continuing to make eBay such a vibrant and trusted marketplace.
So, Chill out Justicia - it's just money....
PS Thanks for the warning Tozer, just to make sure, I dismembered my teddy bear using a 13" knife for hunting camping fishing with eagle emblem (item # 130289400741 from GreedBay) - that bear ain't getting me.....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
