yes im well aware what the websites show, the 300c was in the next bracket when i booked..like i say im assuming you get the top of the range 300c with a v8 not the cheapie v6 model
im talking about dollar LAX depo as of january this year , they also had other models that arent on the website list avail , such as several sizes of van , jeep and i think they had a hummer once0 -
Well...my hubby wants to drive a Charger and since we can't afford to buy it haha this is the next best thing hehe. As I said... didn't want to wait last year for one to come in...we are gettin' one this year no matter what haha. I like old muscle cars actually and the charger seems nice and since we had the 300c last year...hopefully we have better luck

Steveo....when you say "if you want a fun one try and get the premuim /v8 one" what car are you talking about?
I'll be going to the Philly airport branch (same as last year) and I have to say..their line up was pretty damn good compared to other car hire companies.

v8 charger /magnum/300c (all same car underneath)which will probably be in the premium price bracket, but a v8 will be a beast thats lots of fun
the standard charger is no muscle car , our 2.7 wouldnt chirp the tyres at the traffic lights  , depends what you want ,it did the job okay though and was okay value
oh and its true about the 2/4 door thing..i always book the cheaper 2 door and always find they have all 4 door cars there0 -
Ahhh ok...will pass it on to the hubby

One thing...have you ever had a flat or something go wrong with any of the cars you have rented with Dollar? If so, was it covered or did you have to pay fee's`?

Didn't have any problems when we rented but tyres and windscreens aren't included in the normal cover you get I believe, its an extra $4.99 a day for type and windscreen cover (roadsafe).0 -
I am also well aware what the websites show, and also well aware what I could and couldnt have at Vegas.
But I will leave it to you from now on!0 -

I had a blowout on the I-40 last year in our Dollar Jeep Liberty; a truck I was passing spat out a huge lump of wood from under its wheels and at 70+ mph there was no way to avoid it.
After fitting the spacesaver we limped to the next exit to ring the Dollar helpline and told them of the incident and that we'd need a new tyre and alloy wheel. As the Jeep was otherwise ok we drove to Dollar at Vegas airport where we did a damage report and changed cars to a Toyota FourRunner, no real questions asked and nobody seemed to care.
I'd booked through USrentacar and chose the standard Inclusive cover, at the airport I purchased no extra cover and was not billed for any damage.0 -
ive had 2 cars break down , they came out within about 1.5 hrs and bought me a new car with a full tank no charges , you are covered for breakdowns with the rental
the roadsafe is add on cover for if you lock the keys in or run out of fuel...stuff thats your fault , they try to imply that roadsafe = breakdown cover so that you buy it , but you are covered for most stuff anyway0 -
Well we have never bought extra insurance when we go to the US and your stories surely make me feel we don't need to change our minds about that Roadsafe cover

Cheers for the info.!

I'm off to NYC in June, renting a car from Newark to head round the north east. Was gonna go for an SUV, but think I fancy something like a charger / 300C. So will the premium mean that it's definitely a V8 engine compared to a V6 in a Full size? And if I book full size and want to upgrade to a V8 premium when I get there, will it cost more than chosing the premium when pre-booking?
Looking at Net-Flights and Dollar themselves, the price differential doesn't seem to be too much, so I'll do a bit more trawling to make sure I've got some good prices, but is there any other bits of advice to heed when booking?
Will be travelling from NYC, up through Boston, Niagara (Canadian side), Detroit, Chicago, back down through Washington and up to NYC.0
