Car Hire rant and tips too!

found out some interesting news from Dollar car hire and thought I would share
First the bad part:
I was on the hunt for a good deal with Dollar (was after a dodge charger :P) because as of today carhire3000 changed my cargroup and car supplier after I sent the price match in. They accepted the price match but get this...They DOWNGRADED ME and overcharged me for a cargroup that was less on their website!
They said IF i wanted Dollar and a Charger I would have to pay almost 100 quid more(over £400 just for the rental!!) I said how can you do that when my original booking was for a dodge charger? After a half hour of going back and forth..I just had enough!
The good part:
Anyways on to the better part...On the hunt I went fro another car hire and ened up on the website Netflights...it tells you which company has what car etc.. Well, I found the Dodge Charger with Dollar (like I was after) but gave you an option of a 2 door or 4 door.
Well, before booking I called Dollar and asked them when it comes to the Charger (fullsize)...do they have 2 door Chargers or only 4 doors.
Her reply was that their Chargers ONLY have 4 doors as with most of their cars sooooooooo for those you who see the 2 or 4 door options when dealing with Dollar in the USA...do a bit of research (call Dollar and ask for example) as it could save you quite a bit.
So the final outcome was: I got a 2 week rental with first tank of fuel and extra drives and all inc. included for £399
If I want Dollar with carhire 3000 with the full package..it would of been almost 100 quid more!!!

Do they guarantee it will be Dodge Charger? They will have at least 3 other cars in the same group.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

Very different from my experience with carhire3000.
I rang them up saying i had a cheaper qoute and they undercut it straight away, funnily enough it is for a dodge charger as well.
16 days all inc hire for £380
ps
as withabix said there is no gtee it will be a charger, but IMO you will be unlucky if you cant get one.0 -
dollar should have a line up of that sized car , i had the choice of a 300c , charger or sebring convertable
as with any other rental place...be carefull you dont sign for extra insurance and break down cover , you dont need it and they may/will try and push it on you
i refused it and the guy still printed it up and asked me sign it , i think its commision based , so take 5 mins to study it all before you leave0 -
I find CarHire3000 to be more expensive than Avis.co.uk when we book car hire in Canada every year.
Pay Later is at least 10% cheaper as well - nothing to pay until you return the car.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Just had a quick check
my 16 days all inc (ex driver and fuel) with no cancellation fees with CH3000 is £380
with Avis .co.uk is £480 plus additional driver (price to be comfirmed on pick up) plus a tank of fuel plus there are cancellation charges0 -
Well..I have used Carhire3000 last year for a US trip with no problems...we booked a Charger last year (stated on the voucher..which ment it was Dollar) could have waited for a Charger they said but after a long trip we didn't feel like waiting heh...decided to just go with the C. 300.
I have done alot of research heh and know most fleets of car hire companies in US etc.
Dollar and Thirfty specialize in having a a cool fleet as with say..Alamo who's fleet is kinda boring! Alot of people say this too (so I have read in reviews etc.) and well you can usually tell by the example car they give you.. WHO you will end up getting OR just call up the company you want to book with and ASK what company
I don't know about you guys but I like to know WHAT company I am gonna end up paying for!
I also..like to make sure all inc. is included too but I think most places include it IF you book from overseas (for US rentals).
Makes me so angry they think they were trying to fool me though....after the price match thing..they not only swapped the car hire company from Dollar to Alamo..they lowered my cargroup! I mean they lowered the price by a total of 20 quid...do you really think they have the right to lower the car group? I surely do not!

Yup, that is true. It's in the Prem. catagory and then the 300 touring is lux...The Charger is the Fullsize car. I also made a post about that...When sites say they offer you a Charger with 2 doors or 4 doors..Always go for the 2 door(cheaper in price) because Dollar told me...their fullsize cars (which are chargers) only have 4 doors

they deffo had the 300c , charger and sebring convert in the same line up ..i was there last month , you have the choice to wander that section and take what you fancy...i took a charger because it was cleanest and lowest miles...theyre nothing special anyway its a big car for a 2.7 v6
i think the 300c i couldve taken was a v6 and the premium version wouldve been a nicer spec'd v8
you might turn up and get something totaly differant...i wouldnt take too much notice of the internet pics
fyi the charger, magnum and 300c are all the same underneath engine etc..if you want a fun one try and get the premuim /v8 one
ive rented most of what dollar has over the last couple of years lol0 -

They are not in the same price bracket when booking online and last year in Vegas airport they were not in the same bracket. I had booked the charger (size) and was offered anything from a row of vehicles like you say, but the 300 wasnt in it. The magnum was, but i went for the charger as i had the 300 the year before.
What depot are you referring to?0
