Ouch that does sound nasty. All that harrasment just for using a offer THEY provided. Makes you wonder what some members of staff are like. Surely such accusations are defamatory and libel?
I do not think any of us should be treated as second class citizens for using Starbucks-issued vouchers. While I understand the stresses and strains that retail staff have to contend with on a daily basis, I also know that those problems should never be redirected to the customer - or anybody else for that matter - or their pets!!!
Definitely defamatory - as comments were spoken and said in front of others.
I really feel sorry for this young man. He has just picked the wrong person to vent his spleen to, because I won't tolerate this and have complained. Other people might not complain, and be so mortified that they would feel that they would rather not set foot in the store again. Although I thought that last night, I now think - why should I have to avoid one of my usually favourite stores???Invented tradition: Couponology

Thanks for your support.
I will certainly let you know what the outcome is.
I refuse to cower in a corner, though.
Starbucks have to sort this mess out. That young man is a liability for them. Usually Starbucks deliver the best service I've seen yet. Their employees are trained to the highest standard. Hopefully, this is just an exception. However, this does not excuse the treatment I've had to endure.
Therefore, I do not blame Starbucks, but that employee is supposed to be representing the company, and this is why I've lodged my complaint with Starbucks - it happened on their soil. Hopefully my complaint will be the shovel (or catalyst) to clean up this young man's mess.Invented tradition: Couponology

I really hope that Starbucks takes this very seriously indeed. I know that I am. I have never experienced such treatment in my life. Humiliated is an understatement. I really think I should go into the same store today, instead of avoiding it. I have done nothing wrong. Everybody has to fight back against such treatment (obviously in a professional manner), and not run away.
I think I'll try to do this today as a matter of principle.
It never ceases to amaze me what support you get from MSE. Thanks again.
Well at least keep going in until 21st April whilst the card is valid and offering FREE :coffee: :rotfl:
If you are going to stop and take your custom elsewhere, do so when the card has expired and you have to pay for it.

It always perplexes me as to why some staff are arsey about promotions their own company has offered to customers. Is the money coming from their wages or something?0

I agree. There is nothing sadder to see. They turn the blind eye when the company is ripping us off when we are charged over the odds for a product when we have to actually pay for it. I mean, when exactly do we get vouchers - less than 1% of the time, but pay 99.9999%, perhaps!
Usually find that the employees reading more into a promotion are doing so just to get promoted themselves.
However, this young chap will hopefully wake up and smell the coffee when he is told on no uncertain terms that he can speak down to a customer like that.
I will put new meaning into the word - regular customer. He'll have diarrhoea by the time I'm finished with him - and it won't just be verbal.
Oh, btw, went to another Starbucks today, and received service with a smile, as I normally do.
I have been informed that my complaint is currently with the Area Manager. However, due to them continually swapping and changing, the Customer Care Team could not give me a name at this point in time. How terribly convenient for them.Invented tradition: Couponology

Finally, I actually received a reply to my complaint.
Very happy with outcome.
The culprit will be soaked overnight in a coffee bag until it permeates his every crevice, and he shall be admonished of his sins towards any MoneySaving Expert.
He will treat every canny shopper as just that, not as a subservient species.
Essentially, all jokes aside, due to the serious nature of the subject, hopefully no-one else will be subjected to the same - ever!!!!
If anyone is subject to the slightest of wrongdoing, just PM me and I'll get it sorted for you.
Thank you for your support, guys.Invented tradition: Couponology

Thanks for your reply, and all of the support given by fellow MSE'rs.
Perhaps one of the site's main motto's, which is:
"BE NICE TO OTHER MONEYSAVERS"
just needs to be something that we have to teach others outwith this site to do.
It is obvious that some retaillers do not like our consumer savvy, but that's their problem not ours.
I have praised retail staff more than I have had to exercise my right to complain. However, in this instance, a boundary was stepped over, and hopefully a lesson in being nice to all us money savers has been learnt.Invented tradition: Couponology
