How to cancel transaction/prevent future transactions ?

The transaction was a deposit for camper van rental. What happens in the event of a 'no-show'?
Depending on the contract entered into (which we don't know), the balance could be charged to the same card...and therefore linked via the customer and charged to the new card.
Ahh that's a different scenario and agreed, in this instance then yes they could link the cards but to be honest the banks would then take over cos it'd be easy to prove that it wasn't the cardholder driving the camper if say she was in the UK speaking face to face with her bank.
I think this is a little confusing anyway, mainly due to the fact if the store in question was in Germany then because it is in the EU straight away the law begins to protect. If it was in NZ then things will be much harder to sort out. Personally, if the customer rented in Germany but the head office was in NZ then i'd not worry.
If payments start to come then change banks or simply open a new account with same bank and close the existing one down now, so as to nip it in the bud before it starts?!Wannabedebtfree wrote: »I thought I was as well but hey, I'm just going by what was posted originally!
Perhaps we should ask where the transaction took place!!
Yea, its not clear but i'm going on the basis that the OP was in Germany but the company head office was in NZ which, if true, means our OP is instantly protected with the fact she made purchase in the EU.Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

The transaction was done via the Internet from France to rent a camper van in either Germany or France (Strasbourg is in France btw). The name of the company on the credit card statement shows as Imall Internet Travel, Auckland, New Zealand. I can't trace them via the Internet - the previous link doesn't work. I understand that the credit card company have now agreed to cancel and reissue the card.
Many thanks for all of the suggestions and help0 -

Call your bank and ask to get the details of that store. They can provide you with information on the transaction.
I would think that the card was issued in GBP and therefore the transaction made in German or NZ would have been in NZD or EUR. Find out the transaction original currency and try to find out the store. Details of the merchant should be available to your bank, if the bank is unable/unwilling to help ask them the transaction univoque code then call Visa / MS.
Once you've got the code call Visa/MS and explain the situation, they should be able to get the merchant details if you provide:
1) your PAN number (cc)
2) the transaction univoque code.
Bear in mind that there is a limited time frame to do so and Visa or MS could be unable to track down the payment (esp. if it was made many months ago)

Hi, your friend is correct in thinking that it's for the camper's deposit. More than likely she was dealing with a online company like fetchrvrental.com or from other country. I just booked my RV with fetchrvrental.ca and the acknowledgement I received right after was from IMall Vehicle Hire. Whoever booked the camper should check their e-mail for the confirmation and they should see both names mentioned in the e-mail. Mine says:
"The team at Fetch Motorhomes Canada
http://fetchrvrental.ca
A division of iMall Internet Travel".
I hope this answers your question!!
Happy travels!!

This company is an online booking company for many car hire companies. The charge is a deposit for your booking. They send you an email at the time of booking but I didn't realise this either until I found the charge on my card and worked back through my emails. So they're legit. The transaction was done via the Internet from France to rent a camper van in either Germany or France (Strasbourg is in France btw). After hiring a Hertz rental car this month through Honk.com, a company run by Imall NZ, I received the correct charge of $176 from Hertz for the rental on my credit card statement - but also three separate charges from Imall Internet Travel Auckland NZ totaling $500. There is no explanation for them and I am not sure where to find someone from the company to have them explained to me. All contacts I have made, both phone and through email are dead ends (leave message for phone - no reply to email). Can anyone help?0 -
