How to cancel transaction/prevent future transactions ?

My friend asked me for help with a credit card statement showing a payment to Imall Internet Travel in December.
She thinks that the payment was a deposit for a camper van rental in Europe (Germany or Strasbourg), it was made by her boyfriend and she has no confirmation or other details but she did agree to pay for the reservation.
Given that she is no longer in contact with her boyfriend, how can she cancel this reservation or prevent any further payments being taken ?
She contacted the credit card company and they have no more details apart from that the company is based in Auckland New Zealand.
I tried looking for Imall Internet travel online but I couldn't find anything useful.
Does anyone have any ideas please ?

If she lost her card it would be cancelled and her new card would have a different number

  • Not sure if this is the company you are looking for but it's worth a try.

There is a company called iMall Brands Ltd in Albany, North Auckland which is an online bookstore. website is www.fetchtravelbooks.com.
In spite of the cost of living, it’s still popular
  • Thank you for the thoughts, no PIN was required, my friend was present and entered the details herself. It may or may not have required the CVN verification number of course. If the card was reported lost and replaced, wouldn't the CVN number change ? Shocked24

    Hi,

best to report it stolen in the country it may be used, i.e. say you lost it in NZ. This will block all transactions from that country for the time being - if asked for of course, assuming your mate is back in the UK?

However, cards are not linked contrary to what others have said. Likewise, they cannot be linked for such a purchase, if so then the retailer and the card issuer are committing theft/fraud god knows the legal term!

Ok, report it lost in NZ and this will issue a new card with new start date, new end date and new CVV (last 3 digits on back). The only thing the same is the actual card number (long number through middle)

Don't panic, this is normal and nothing to worry about. If anything gets charged to the card then your mate acts daft and says she never authorised it etc...

    Hope this helps - Mil.

This would be the case for recurring payments etc but still the cardholder has to authorise such actions. A random store (especially in NZ) cannot and will not be linked for recurring payments.

It would highlight fraud to all electronic banking systems and would never go through the systems.

TBH the OP is better to report card stolen, at the same time confirm you have no recurring payments or card direct payments set-up and request a new card.

I thought I was as well but hey, I'm just going by what was posted originally!

Perhaps we should ask where the transaction took place!!

That could be a dangerous assumption.

The transaction was a deposit for camper van rental. What happens in the event of a 'no-show'?

Depending on the contract entered into (which we don't know), the balance could be charged to the same card...and therefore linked via the customer and charged to the new card.
