As this has fallen from the front page of OS. I'll add it to the existing thread :D

I use a microfibe mop. It needs very little water, so the floor is dry in no time flat :T

I've been using a string mop on my ceramic tiles and laminate flooring but they seem to need replacing really often. What does everyone else use for the best results? Also what do you add to the water? I wonder if this makes a difference to the mop?

    Hi,

Not sure if the one I use is the same as yours, a string mop, but its what I'd call the old fashioned sort, the white ones.
    Not the blue newer sort.

I don't have ceramic tiles nor laminate flooring, I beleive you can get special cleaner for laminate flooring.

For the mop, its best not to buy the cheapest, as I find these don't last very long. Lets say, buy from Wilkinsons not a £1 shop IYSWIM No need to go to NEXT though :D

At the moment, I use Flash diluted with hot water. My floors are vinyl tiles (lino) in the kitchen, bathroom and loo and woodern floor in the hall way.

I'm pretty sure ours would have come from Wilkinsons, I'm sure we've had ours for about a year now, mind you it only comes out about once a week. :o
  • I get through a mop head every 6 weeks!!!
We have a kitchen floor which is practically bomb proof- They use it in industrial kitchens - it has a rough surface with glittery bits in- cost a bomb too.
It was already fitted so had no choice about it.
I have tried every mop on the market and have found the vileda blue ones last the longest. They have them in Asda in a twin pack for £3 at the moment so I am stocking up.Thats the ones that look like a proper mop not the sponge ones.
When I used one of the white string ones I had to wait for the floor to dry and then sweep up all the shredded bit up- took ages:mad:

  • You can't beat doing it on your hands and knees i use Flash or even better hot water and soda crystals about 90p for a big bag much better than a mop anyday. oh and dry it straightaway with kitchen towel/clean cloth
