I'm not very savvy when it comes to this sort of thing, but do you think the prices for Ds's will come down once the DSi comes out? Or will it just replace it altogether?

Cant see the prices coming down too much, they are still really popular...
  • You all seem really knowledgeable about all things DS, so maybe you could advise me? I've been thinking of getting a DS lite for ages now as I've had a few goes on a friends and I got a bit addicted! I was about to go ahead and get one when I saw this thread and discovered a new version will be coming out soon. I see some of you who own the DS lite said you would not upgrade to the DSi unless your DS lite packs up. This suggests to me that the DSi is not significantly better than the DS lite. Therefore, would you reccommend that I just go ahead and buy a DS lite now, or hold off and wait for the DSi to come out? I presume it would cost a bit more to buy a DSi than it would cost me to get a DS lite now? I don't mind paying more if the DSi will be better, but just wondering how much better it will really be. Any advice would be appreciated.

depends what you really want out of it

DS Lite - good for games

DSi - internet browser, download games like you can on the Wii (officially), camera, mp3 player, own channel (like the Wii) and buy games with Wii points.

you can buy internet browser for the ds lite as a add-on

Only reason my daughter is getting the new DSi is cause her DS is about to packup after being well used for a few years.

Best present I ever got her as has been well used and worth every penny.

Hope not, I forked out £112 a couple of days ago for pink ds lite, HSM3 game and accessory pack from HMV instore which I *thought* was a good price. DD1 wants it for her birthday in March (typical it's just too early for the DSI release).

I'm hoping the DS lites don't suddenly come tumbling down in price in the next couple of weeks due to the DSI release, if so I'll be more than a little cheesed off

I am the same as non_believer.. I've been thinking about buying a ds for a while now but will only really use it for playing games (I have my eye on the lime green!)

I'm not sure whether to go ahead and purchse it now or wait until the dsi comes out incase prices of the ds are reduced

If you arent in a rush then I would personally wait and see if the prices of the DS lite drop, I think they might, depends if Nintendo intend to continue marketing them both or just replace the lite with the DSi

When Sony replaced the PSP with the PSP slim most places sold off the old "Phat" models cheap, the same could happen with the DS
