Approved Food has undergone some major changes. (Not quite what you were thinking, Misty!) A fresh injection of capital has led us to bigger and better premises. Orders are now processed in real time and with more room we can further expand our massive product range. Already you will see that stacks of new lines are being added daily and there are some real belters!
Cheers, Dan

So reassuring to hear that an injection helped rather than the patches (woman joke):D0

Mini Diet Coke cans - do they taste 'odd' to anyone else?
Also, the black trays of 'Toffee' (broken up bits) more like fudge with bits of soft caramel in the middle (or bits of chewy toffee) - very strange, but nicePlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Can someone please check the weights? Items are still listed with no weight shown at all or in some cases a weight shown that then turns into a totally different (and usually higher!) weight when you add it to your basket. My last box was around 4 kg short in total, weight-wise, because of this same problem. I don't want to order again until the weights are more accurate.0

Jaytin,
I know you mentioned this before, I think with some sausages? But thought at the time, isn't it the contents that weigh x amount, then you've got juice, the tin and then on top of that I suppose AF have to calculate in the internal packaging (I've had quite a few with boxes within boxes etc) and then the outer cardboard box.
Given all the above I don't think anything will measure exactly the content weight of the tin or whatever because the total must be taken into consideration.
Just presuming but maybe they say 1 x 28kg parcel will be 3kg before you start (or something)0 -
Thanks for your post Misty, yes I did post before about the sausages but they don't have any left for this order hehe. The sausages were 5kg tins (gross weight) but only just under 3 kg was actual sausage (net weight) the rest was water. But the tin was going onto the parcel weight as 7 kg, that's almost half of the tin gross weight added on, when it arrived there was no packaging around it at all!
Other items I have noticed have totally different weights for two different flavours of drinks or biscuits that should be exactly the same weight. I understand what you are saying and yes they should allow for packaging, but if this was the case then surely all the items would be coming out as slightly different weights to those listed? Or the parcel would start at e.g 2kg instead of 0kg to allow for packaging?
Also a lot of items that need to be well packaged are light items such as biscuits, cakes and crisps which could easily be crushed and many of these are coming out at the right weight. I really do think it's just mistakes both when the weights are typed in on the site and then when the calculator adds them up, it is often wrong when multiplying the actual weight that's listed! Tins seem to be constantly the wrong weight when you buy multiples even though the gross weight is listed and they often have very little or no extra packaging as tins are pretty sturdy anyway. One item in my last parcel was listed as 200g on the site but no matter how many you added to the parcel the weight was still listed as 0. :rotfl:Sorry for rambling, I just find it annoying!!0 -
Hi
I have received my latest order from AF and am very impressed - they are using very sturdy shoebox size cardboard boxes within the bigger outer box and everything is packed much better with liquids sealed in a plastic bag.
I ordered very late on Monday evening and the order arrived this morning - excellent service.
Now just wondering where to store it all.......0 -
Jaytin,
I know they do sometimes get it really wrong - something I ordered once should have been 1kg and it went into the basket at 100kg and said I needed a pallet delivery!!!!
I honestly don't know how they do work it out, but know when I'm selling say, an unframed watercolour on eBay, the postage should be very little, but when you start to add on the bubble wrap and a couple of sheets of cardboard, the weight increase can be quite dramatic, so if you're packing a whole load of differing items it must be a bit of a pig to get standardised without wasting time in getting on 'the shelves.'
Mind you, they must have been one heck of a sausage!!!!0 -
LOL yes they were big sausages! About 10-12" long and very nice too, slightly spicy but in a good way.
We have quite a few stored in the freezer and they seem to freeze pretty well. 85% pork too which is not bad at all for sausages.
I bet you are glad you didn't actually have to pay the shipping to Scotland for that 100kg pallet... :eek:0 -
Ooh, might try some of them if they come back.
Yep, phoned up and yelped when I saw the pallet charge!0
