  • Just wondered what the smell is like, I go through lots of bubble bath with 3 kids and want something with little or no scent so that I can add my own blend of oils. I've never tried the value one, so fingers crossed.

Tinned tomatoes are good.....we go through at least 5 tins a week
We use their loo roll (although sainsburys basics one is slightly thicker for the same price).
The value bacon is pretty good quality (we bought loads of it when it was 50p the other week).

    As most previous posters!
Can't imagine WHY folk pay more for things like tinned tomatoes when they're disguised in a spag. bol. (or similar.)
Value sponge cake mix doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet. 25p for a pack you add an egg to for 12 fairy cakes or 1 large cake. Ideal for keeping in the cupboard with cooking chocolate & various decorations to entertain visiting grand-children!
Worse things will have happened in the world today...

My best recent value fine is the Japanese Style Rice Crackers, I put them out in little white bowls as pre-dinner nibbles and they looked very posh!

i love these too but everytime i've been into tesco to get some more they're completely missing from the shelf. note even a space for them :(
  • I buy quite a bit of value stuff:

    - bran flakes, muesli (the bags rather than packets have just returned to my store)
    - biscuits (especially custard creams, yum - can't tell the difference)
    - jaffa cakes
    - packet custard (not tried it yet)
    - loo rolls
    - sugar-free lemonade
    - fruit and veg if it's yellow-stickered, or cheaper than market
    - tins: kidney beans, sweetcorn
    - butter
    - plain yoghurt in big tubs
    - lasagne sheets

...I'm sure there are other things too

and I was loth to try them in case they were the bitter aftertaste kind. Thanks

......... Tried value peanut butter a few weeks ago it wasn't very nice - too runny........

OH said the peanut butter was quite nice, much better than Sainsburys normal, which he said was like an oil slick. But it's each to his own, as I think all peanut butter is disgusting.

My last online shop from Tesco was practically all value stuff apart from formula, wholewheat spaghetti and mackerel fillets and I think this is the way I'll continue to shop, as I'm quite impressed with all the stuff. I'll still top up at Lidl and get my meat and fish from the reduced counter, but I'm on a serious economy drive.
  • Asda smart price is a much bigger range than Tesco Value & can be cheaper. Just a thought, hth.
