Very glad it is working for you

I use Westfield due to my need for osteopathy for my RSi - over the last two years I've paid in roughly £200 and been paid out roughly £700.

They really are cracking policies when you remember to claim

I think these are one of the few good value insurance deals out there. So far I've paid in about £60 and got back about £115, not bad for ten minutes work.

However I am still surprised at how few people actually know of these schemes, I will however point them (namely my parents) in direction of your extremely useful article.

    Cheers,

    Rod

I got to work today to find my employer sending me junk mail about Benenden Healthcare, and looking on their website I see they have a cashback plan.

Has anybody got any experience of Benenden? How does it compare to the other cashback plans out there?

    Martin,

Just been to check out the Westfield plan, and noticed that they seem to be promoting another scheme, Good4u. Do you know anything about this? It would seem to be a replacement for the one you mentioned, but looks much worse value?

    Thanks, Caileag

Anyone heard of Paycare?  Got details with my payslip this month.  They are offering to reduce the waiting time for claims from 12 weeks to 4 weeks.  Think I will send off for some more info about rates etc but just wondered whether anybody has ever used them?

The Baroness says Foresters don't mind if you change plan. I have For. they do pay up, but when I tried to upgrade they didn't receive it. They then said everything starts again if I upgrade and would have to wait 2yrs all over again.
New Q. Does anyone think it's worth changing after making claims for the year? It might be hassle, but foresters give poor £ for glasses and I've already claimed full amount for consultation?

i've been with them for almost a year but been really bad at claiming (guess thats how they make their money) - something which i intend to change asap!

  • I have an HSA personal medical plan, although I originally took it out with Simplyhealth who they subsequently took over. However I am concerned that the premiums are rising at an unacceptable level. Initially when I joined it was £19 (2001), last year it hit £30 (post HSA takeover) and now £40. Is this an acceptable increase?

Also I am not sure if the new £40 rate is good value when compared to other plans, can anyone advise? The scheme I am on does not include certain cancer treatments (namely chemotherapy/radio therapy), organ transplants and ophthalmology. The main benefits are that there no limits on treatment costs for all qualifying 'cures', no excess and that complementary therapies (within limits) are included.

    Cheers,

I'm with HSF (Hospital Saturday Fund) and I pay £26 per month for family cover.

Typical benefits (max claim amount per year) are
    Dental and Optical £400.00
    Birth Grant £600.00
Physio, Osteopathy, Chiropractic etc etc £600.00
    Specialist and Investigations £1,200.00
Hospital and Hospice (per night) £75.00
    Recuperation (after 7 nights) £150.00
    after 15 nights £225.00
Day Case Surgery and Treatment (per day) £75.00

There are many others of course - see Scheme A here... http://www.hsf.eu.com/portal/ukg/plans.asp

With this plan you pay for your treatment and then claim it back from HSF. They pay by cheque and it takes about 2 or 3 days to sort. Is that what your plan does???

In the two years I have been a member I've paid in £624 in monthly contributions, but claimed well over £1k. By the way, I'm not at Death's door!

I had a specialist investigation arranged as a private patient, seen in two days rather than 3 weeks on the NHS, and the consultant was more than happy to bill me, let me send the bill away, and pay when I had received the cheque from HSF. He charged £85 per 15 mins... that was some bill. Fingers crossed that the wife's current pregnancy goes according to plan, there will be another claim made for a £600 birth grant.

    Hope this helps.
