Half hour showers!!!

I would hate to live in some of your houses - turning off switch mid-shower

The one thing I don't mind paying for is long showers - takes me about 20-25 mins when washing my hair, I honestly do not know how anyone can shower properly in 5 mins

Well, I can! Thing is, if it's an electric shower, it can make a huge impact on the bill and some people just cannot afford to pay for the electricity they're using and have to cut back. We don't have a shower at present, but my teens were terrible at having long showers and while reason got me so far, sometimes drastic measures are needed.0 -
There are two costs:
- electricity
- water
If you're living alone and paying the bills you can take as long as you like, but if you're paying an inclusive rent then some other bugg4h's paying for you to shave your toes.
In a shared house it would be annoying if you could never get in the shower because somebody was taking 1 hour showers .... and then the bill comes in and they expect it to be split.0 -

1000 litres is one unit as measured on your water meter.0 -
Our house is in the midst of DIY and the electrics all over are dodgy...slowly getting done.
Anyway, if you stay too long in our shower it fuses itself automatically!!!! Job done! ........oh hang on...maybe the previous owner 'rigged' it up as a cost cutting exercise!!!!!!!!! LOL0 -
OP I just knew you were going to have teenagers!! We don't have an electric shower, it's a mixer type, but even so it's still gas and water.
I have finally solved the prob with my 17yr old son, I showed him our gas/electric and water rate bills. He's a college and has a part time job, but while he's at college he doesn't have to pay us any keep, as long as the showers are kept to sensible time (10 mins max) and everything in his room is turned off and not left on standby. He's kept to this - so far!
I did have to shout at my 10yr old step daughter on Saturday after she was in there for 20mins!! I'd also turned the hot tap on downstairs and she still didn't get out grrrr.
I love the solution of chucking cold water over the shower curtain :rotfl: . Inspired!!!0 -
The cold water pan "solution" comes from shared halls of residence / shared showers at university.
Got to get your friends moving on a morning.
Worked well then - both giving and receiving :eek:0 -
We are having a new bathroom installed on Monday which includes a Jacuzzi and electric shower.
The electrician has advised to have the power switch just outside the door so it can be turned off incase we have problems getting the kids out of the bathroom :rotfl:
All I can say is that would be a first. I have so much trouble trying to get them to wash properly, I will be amazed if they suddenly take a liking for soap and water.0 -
