Hi, I'm allergic to most chemicals and normally my sister comes in once a week and does bathroom etc. But she has discovered boys so hasn't been coming round so often. I heard that coke is good for cleaning the toilet??? Is this right. Can it be used instead of bleach? Also any ideas for chemical free ways to clean the…

I bought stuff called Odex concentrated toilet descaler in a discount shop - 50p for 500ml. I now just use that once a week to get rid of the actual limescale, and Tesco value loo cleaner (28p for 750ml) during the week whenever it needs freshening or a quick swish-round.

Alternatively, Morrison's do an own-brand Harpic lookalike with limescale remover - 69p for 750ml, so that's quite economical to use, and seems to do as good a job as the Harpic.
