    Hello kellyswon,
Don't get disheartened with the process.
I get the impression that Fibromyalgia is one of those conditions still not widely accepted by some doctors as a condition.

When I went to tribunal for my son, the panel had looked up the dictionary the words 'semantic and pragmatic' so they understood his disability.
This shows the tribunal were doing their job.

If you have not already done so, make an appointment with Dial, Welfare Rights or the CAB.
They can help with the appeals process.

    Good Luck,

    Munchie

    hi to all.
it took me 2 years of fighting to get my claim given. if you think you shoud be entitled then dont give up. go and see your gp as they can give you advice and it can help alot if you have been to your gp on a regular basis with the problem you claim for. my claim went to apeal and was only finaly given after a report from my gp and a report from my consultant (the top man in the country and at his private clinic, must have cost DLA office a fair bit).
dont give up if you think you deserve it , especially if your gp agrees.

Well i got my statement of reasons today!
Basically says im not entitled because i can walk even though its very slowly.... no mention of the pain i am in whenever i put my weight on the hip!

Also that although i need help to wash dress and climb stairs i dont need help during the night or with toilet needs that im not entitled to care, also that what i suffer from is " A Hip Condition" i get the feeling they didnt understand what my consultant said and probably dont know much about Hip impingement and torn cartilige in hips.

I know i need to get some help with this , as im not giving up, each day i seem to lose a little of my independence, do i ask for them to look at the decision again? Or go for an appeal?
Sorry if i sound confused, it just all seems like a minefield.

Hi stargazer 59 i am sorry to hear about what you have been going through i suffer from fibro and had an op for a prolapsed disc a few months ago .I applied in 2005 and got turned down ,appealed and still got turned turn i was so fed up of the whole process that i gave up and only re-applied in dec08 as my condition and mobility became much worse ,i got high rate mobility and low rate care awarded yesterday (sorry not something you want to hear when you have been turned down )but my advice is to not give up and keep going i wished i had applied sooner and not left the gap as my condition has been really bad for the last 3 years. i am only 33 and my self confidence independence etc is so low i need help everyday and dont go out the house much so i can imagine how you feel, sorry not much help on what to do next but just wanted to send you a bit of good luck for the next step you take x x
  • Stargazer; you need "proffessional" help to appeal; someone like the local CAB, or you Welfare Rights Officer from your local council

But do appeal, those who succeed far out number those who fail, and good luck

    just a quick update!

Asked them to look at it again and explained each part clearly, they said they would look at it again.

then got a letter saying a doctor was coming from ATOS on 3rd June.

The medical was fine, no tricky questions i was just honest, and the doctor who came was lovely, very old school.

Received a letter from Income Support today saying i will receive £27.50 per week premium as i am ill or disabled, and also stating that they
dont count £49.10 mbility, or £47.10 care .

I havent heard anything from DLA yet, but it seems i may have been awarded High Mobility and Middle Care, dors that seem right ?

If so i have to thank everyone on here for their support, and if i could move without pain, i would be doing cartwheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Congratulations

And enjoy the back dated money :D
