Citizen's Advice will also help (I think you need to book an appointment). Other than that - you may find some help from an organisation/charity directed to your husband's illness. You tend to fair better with an appeal if you appear in person, again CAB/DIAL may be able to assist.
but you put me on track.:o he realy dont want to follow it up, you know men. but i want to fight it for him and others who are in need.

Hi Stargazer,
It's pretty standard practice to ask for your GP's report I think - I wouldn't worry about it too much - it may be that they didn't feel there was sufficient information on your claim pack to make a decision or it may just be that they want confirmation of your condition from your doctor.
Why not make an appointment with your GP to let them know the DWP will be asking for a report? If s/he isn't fully and completely aware of how your condition impacts your daily life then consider asking them to read your DLA claim pack before they write their report.

Hey Saffie,
I'm sorry the DWP have rejected your hubbie's claim but if he's entitled to the support then don't give up - my previous 2 claims (I have M.E. which is a long term condition) have both been rejected but then accepted at appeal.
I don't know what you mean when you say you're sure they're getting different doctors each time?
If he struggles to get out of bed then I imagine he simply cannot walk 5m never mind 50m! You need to get some help filling in the form. There are some organisations which can help with this - some are free and I think DIAL and CAB are two of them but am not 100%. Personally I have recently joined Benefits & Work which was £17 for a year's subs but well worth it in my opinion - they have some guides on filling in the form which are helping me to understand all 60 odd questions!

Jenna - I did joint B & work too, but to be honest I wont be re-newing. The information is all 'out there' anyway. I found the boards not very good - not as good as this one, I realise its down to people helping (on the boards) but it just seemed to me that people on here are a little more 'clued up'. You can buy the Disability Rights Handbook (the oracle) from Disability Alliance for £10 (concessionary fee).
www.disabilityalliance.org will take you to the site (loads of free help if anyone needs it)

Today i have received another letter saying they are asking my GP for a report, just wondering if this is a good sign or a bad one lol, its hard to know
and i know there are many helpful people on here with lots of experience of DLA and how it works.
Any advice appreciated
Phone your Dr asap; and get an appointment and just remind him of your limits/symptoms; it will help answer the DWP0 -
Well guys, got the letter from DLA today and got turned down, just as i suspected i would, feel very disheartened by it all.

Hello stargazer,
Don't worry about it.
Just phone the DWP, and ask them for a 'Statement of Reasons'.
That will tell you the basis for their decision.
It could be that you GP is not fully aware of your care needs due to your condition.
The DWP have 14 days to send you the statement once it has been requested.
From the date of the decision, you have 4 weeks to appeal.
If you ask for this statement, it gives you an extra 2 weeks.
The first stage of the appeal process will be for a different decision maker to look at your claim, along with any extra supporting information you can supply.
So it's not going as fr as the tribunal stage yet, and the original decision can be overturned.
Make an appointment for 2 weeks time, with either DIAL, CAB or Welfare Rights.
Welfare Rights are part of your county council.
Dial can be found from this link:-
http://www.dialuk.info
Take along a copy of your original forms of you have them, and the statement, and you can get some excellent advice, and they will help you with the appeal process.
Good Luck

Many thanks,
i guess it could have been my GP didnt know how bad i have got as the last person i saw was my Orthopaedic Surgeon.
I tried to see him after i received the letter saying they were asking him for a report but was in too much pain to walk, hoped all the evidence i sent would be enough but i guess not!
Will do as you say, thanks again0 -
Good luck; and a couple of yrs ago I remember on the BBC a report saying some huge percentage of people appealing succeeded, so statistics are well on your side0
