Should John Lewis planning permission be approved

Yes Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been looking forward to John Lewis coming here for years, I read in the paper today they originally applied for planning in 2004, it's a shame and disgrace and to be honest bad publicity for our wee country.
I try and support local traders at all times, but let the competition remain open. Sprucefield is a perfect location, has good road links and is under used at present. I'm sick of politicians thinking everything has to be in Belfast to work and make money.
Do they take into account parking, ease of access and traffic considerations? If so sprucefield should be perfect on all accounts, compared to Belfast

Did anyone see Sammy on the news tonight being all smug with his 'oh the final say will be down to me', gez, talk about the big 'I am' :rolleyes:The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

My only gripe is the traffic situation. it's already a nightmare at the minute around sprucefield, the m2 at peak times. I hope that its given some consideration. it is not easy or good. traffic jams are awful. i know i'm there twice a day!MFW 148 - Mortgage £121,000 1Jan11 / Mortgage £120,300 28Jan11 / £119,808 24Feb11 / £119,400 22 April11 / £119,089 29 May11 / £118,500 October110

I personally dont care where its built, just build it
Theres not much I miss from London, but John Lewis and Waitrose are on the list.
Debenhams couldnt hold a candle to John Lewis
House of frasier - Need a loan to walk in the door
If everyone is so worried about competition, how comes they are letting Tescos build all over the place killing the small towns up here in the NW? Ballymoney is nearly shut, Portstewart and Portrush are dead and Ballycastle (new tesco opening next year) will be a ghost town in a blink of an eye
<<<doesnt shop in Tesco doing my best to support local shops0 -

we have moaned for years about the big shops not opening up over here and the troubles had a lot to do with that but now John Lewis want to open a shop and what do we do 'sorry Mr Lewis would you jump through these hoops for the next 5 odd years and we will then have another wee think about letting you open a shop as you might offend someone in newry or ballymena '
WISE UP !!!!!!
we as consumers need the variety that they will bring and the retailers needs a bit of healthy competition and we need the jobs :T
so do the right thing and get this complex up and running asapwhile i knit i think

I can't see a valid reason at all for it not to go ahead, Debenhams and, more recently, House of Fraser could do with a bit of competition for the wedding list market0
