To all those having problems; my sympathy.
Afraid I don't have much in the way of helpful advice, but keep at it - you will get there!
We've just had our survey results back, it needs some work, but when asked, the surveyor said the first job he'd do when moving in would be to trim the hedge!
Actually he's been a sweety throughout - if you're in Bristol I'd thoroughly recommend him www.johnmartin.co.uk
We've already had a full mortgage offer (from another property) so we're ok there till July (subject to valuation, but I'm certain we won't have any problems with that).
All we have to do is hope the solicitprs get on with it, and that the Vendor can get their tenants out of the house before July! When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present....we experience heaven on earth. Sarah Ban Breathnach0 -

Hi neighbour. Whereabouts in Bristol did you buy? We've just had an offer agreed in Bedminster.Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit.

Ooh! :hello:
We're in St Andrews now, and have bought in Horfield.
Our forst house we offered on was Bemmie, but we've been priced out of the good houses round there!
We viewed what seemed like hundreds in the Bemmie area. Wonder if we saw yours?! :rotfl:
Congrats, and fingers crossed for you!
Really meant what I said about the surveyor btw - he's v. cheap and very fast and professional.
Would use him again in a flash. When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present....we experience heaven on earth. Sarah Ban Breathnach0 -
Crikey! Panic over OH has just called an calmed me down. He is now away to phone stupid bank so I can get our deposit sent. Very glad he woke up early an he doesn't go on shift until 6.30pm!
I tell you, this is so scary when you try to move large amounts of money; you don't want to type a wrong digit!

Glad to hear it!
Don't expect you're going to sleep for the next week are you?
I would (and probably will shortly) be a wreck with the completion date drawing near!
Keeping my fingers crossed it all goes well for you! When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present....we experience heaven on earth. Sarah Ban Breathnach0 -
Offer been excepted today - fabby. Buying through shared equity ownhome scheme 60% from Co-op bank and 40% from the scheme though estate agent is asking me about deposit and Ownhome say they don't do deposits. Not sure where that leaves me. Don't have 10% deposit, does a token amount suffice, 3K perhaps?
Just tell them you are buying the house on a shared equity scheme, its not like the estate agent is getting any money from you anyway. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -
HI everyone,
My sale is going ok now and the solicitor has been trying to set a completion date.
They have asked for a cheque with our deposit and the remaining balance we owe them.
Is this right??
I though all the money side of things (the deposit) was done electronicaly on the day.
It just seems wierd (and scary) that i have to write such a big cheque to the solicitor.
Maybe im just thinking too much but it would be great if someone could advise me with it
Thanks

Hi Lauren
We're in the same situation - completion date 1st May (fingers crossed) and we will be paying the deposit and fees on Monday to the solicitor:eek: - we'll have no savings then - but we are desperate for our own house again! We've been renting for three years after selling up after paying all of our debts off:money:0 -
Congratulations backtomum sounds like you have worked hard to get your own place again! I bet you are sooo excited :j
We have been living with my inlaws for two years so im ready now !
Ive been to transfer our savings from ours isa's today and its scared me a little to think that in a few weeks we'll have none of it left  Going to be strange writing that cheque!!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything goes well for you0 -
Hi everyone
I've lurked on here for a while but now want to join! We had an offer accepted about ten days ago - a shade under 10% off the asking price but we know it'd been on for quite a bit higher for several months before being reduced into our price range - and saw the mortgage adviser yesterday and got our application agreedWe've instructed solicitors and hopefully have got all the awkward beginning bits done!
Feeling very excited but we're trying to talk about it as "the house" and not "our house" as we know there're plenty of possible pitfalls along the way...Mortgage-Free Wannabe!
