So just because your situation in your area is like that, you think it applies everywhere else? Kind of narrow thinking...0 -
Not sure what Asda are like for taking on students, would say not typical staff, Sainsburys and TEsco's though do seem to have students. What about cafe's? What do you want to do eventually, maybe try something relevant?
One thing is though if you want to continue with educationa and your exam results are important then don't get a part time job for another 4 months. Not long to wait and come mid june you can go round everywhere.0 -

I'm shuddering to think what the insurance would be on that and trying to persuade him perhaps something a little smaller might be more suitable but as he is currently 6ft 4 we are struggling.
PS Have you tried phoning round hotels for jobs maybe waiting on the tables and doing dishes. My son is still too young for this just now.
Good luck by the way and keep us posted.
PPS Have you tried the local council youth clubs?
I am 6ft 5 and drive a fiesta no problem.Mortgage Free 22/03/17

OP keep trying and don't take rejections personally. It took both my boys ages to get weekend work and in both cases they had to go to group interviews before individual ones. One got a job in the local shoe shop and the Argos where he has been for 3 years (he is now at uni).
The other son then got a job at ASDA who were only recruiting undergrads at the time (which he was.)
All I can suggest is keep trying.
By the way how about baby sitting or offering to tutor younger children if you are particularly strong in a subject.0 -
Hi Not sure where in the country you are, but my son (will be 16 in August) has been working in a corner shop since he turned 14. Similar kind of thing to a village shop (except we livein a town and have morrisons, tesco and somerfield as well!), its one of those places that is always open and sells everything! Maybe worth considering if you have any nearby. It's not a gr8 wage but some money it better than non and I don't pay him any pocket money anymore!
Good luck with trying to find something...too many youngsters can't be bothered ...ooops feel I might get shot down now....Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -
Some local takeaways, Fish & Chip or Chinese?
usually open until late on a Friday or Saturday, perfect for School persons?0 -
I know what you mean about the reccession, don't listen to the moaners, everyones situation is different!
All the businesses in my town have cut back on casual/part time workers, most of my friends who had jobs were let go after christmas aswell. People say about ASDA but my local store would only hire people applying from JobCentrePlus who had been unemployed long term.
Its hard to find a job unless new stores are opening in your area or you have a friend/relative who works somewhere, who can then refer you for a position.
I realise how tough it can be, I struggled to find a job when I was at college, money was tight and I didn't get EMA.
Just hang in there, ask friends and family, or keep an ear out for news of new stores opening near you, Subway are expanding really quickly and opening lots of new stores. Good luck! :T0 -
Thanks a lot I must've emailed every company I can possibly think of I suppose I'll just keep my ear out and hope for the best:j:jWins 2009: 57 totalling £3083:j:j:jNovember - Peroni Bottle Opener, Jonas Brothers DVD, Loreal Glam Shine Lip Gloss, Richard Hammond Blast Labs, St Helier T Shirts, McCain Chips:j0
