Unions have previously tried to revise pay deals upwards but, with deflation looming, this is the first time that employers have used the same rules to squeeze pay. However, the Armed Forces are likely to enjoy slightly higher rises to reflect demanding deployments in Iraq and Afghan-istan and a retention crisis.:oCurrent Debt £38,000:o

I have just looked at a new DIN released recently. Its about accommadation and food charges and it says in its first paragraph thus:The charges notified in this instruction are those applicable for 2008-09 uplifted by a factor of 5.6% for messing and casual meals, and by a factor of 3.9% for accommodation including the garage charge.
This will come into effect as of 1st April 09
The messing elements of the charges apply where Pay As You Dine (PAYD)
has not yet been implemented. The powers that be can still find time to increases charges.0 -
No surprise there then.
Perhaps they should adopt the same method to award money as they do to reclaim money, one definitely seems an easier method than the other.0 -
It is nice to see that the MP's have found the time in between fraudulent expense claims to award themselves 2.33% as from Wednesday. Now they can pay for their !!!!!! films themselves. Words fail me.0

Have the Mp's pay rise been published then and is that for all of them. I really think that is disgusting.:oCurrent Debt £38,000:o

Are you sure that DIN isn't for non-entitled and foriegn personnel?{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
From Parlaiment today:T2. [267201] Mr. Philip Dunne (Ludlow) (Con): You, Mr. Speaker, will remember that during Prime Minister’s questions last Wednesday I asked why our service personnel did not know what pay they would be getting as from this coming Wednesday. The Leader of the House mentioned, at column 302, that she thought that the Minister of State would address that matter during the defence debate the following day. I therefore attended that debate and raised the point, but I regret to say that the Minister declined to respond. I urge the Secretary of State here and now to tell the House, and the thousands of service personnel who are listening outside, what they will be paid from Wednesday.
The Minister for the Armed Forces (Mr. Bob Ainsworth): We will be making an announcement on service pay, as on other matters, in the very near future.Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious!0 -
Wake up tomorrow and we hopefully would have had a decent pay rise. It's not going to happen is it. They can only find money to give themselves a pay rise.:oCurrent Debt £38,000:o
