Avon, Betterware or Kleeneze?

Sunshine,
It costs £128 for 200 books, and that is 200 of EACH of the 3 Kleeneze catalogues (main, health and beauty and sale/specialogue) so you're actually getting 600 catalogues. Plus, that price includes durable catalogue bags to prevent wear and tear and order forms.
OH wasn't too far of with the price!:p I agree Kleeneze can work, it obviously does otherwise so many people wouldn't do it, but it does depend on your area - we put loads of time into it, and there just wasn't the orders. The last time we went out, from 150 books, we got £10 of orders! And saying as we can only got out twice a week, with working full time, it would obviously take ages to get enough orders to make it worthwhile to place them......and by which point, so much time would have passed that people probably wouldn't want their orders anymore!
The bonus levels etc were what attracted us to give it a go, thought it sounded much better than avon & betterware, but unfortunately the reality of it was that we couldn't get enough orders, due to their being so many other distributors in our area (who bizarrely, never bother with our street for some reason! And no we don't live on a rough estate or anything like that lol!)
We've managed with avon to get over £300 of orders for each campaign - yes you do have to buy the books more regularly, but we spent less than £10 on books, and you can reuse them for the following month (as you can "backorder" products) so it isn't too expensive. Plus, with their being no delivery charges etc, at least if we only managed to get, say £100, of orders, we would only have had to pay for the books & bags, and nothing else so we would still have some profit, albeit not a huge amount.
I think all the main companies (avon, betterware & kleeneze) each have their plus & negative points - one will work for one person, but not another.
I don't believe all the comments people made about pyramid schemes - yes we didn't succeed with kleeneze, but I don't think badly of them (apart from wondering how they managed to send out faulty giro slips!), they are a reputable company, if they weren't then they wouldn't be allowed to trade.
Good luck with whichever you decide to go with - though I saw a betterware book outside someones house last week when I was collecting my Avon books in - and I have to say the front cover looked really naff, really old-fashioned and not at all appealing! The kleeneze ones are definately better than betterwares!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

I did an Avon round and really enjoyed it - i got myself organised from the start and when i put my first brochures out i put a note in asking my client if they'd like further catalogues - this then in turn saved me wasting my time with people that didn't want to know - everything was going great until i got a call from a lady asking why i was delivering on her patch!!! Turns out Avon had given me somebody else's terroritory.A home is not a home ..... without a dog

If you think thats bad try Kleeneze
You dont get patch and customers get peeved because you some times get more than one catalogue in a short space of timedawnie1972 wrote: »I did an Avon round and really enjoyed it - i got myself organised from the start and when i put my first brochures out i put a note in asking my client if they'd like further catalogues - this then in turn saved me wasting my time with people that didn't want to know - everything was going great until i got a call from a lady asking why i was delivering on her patch!!! The commission for Avon is 20% for orders over £78 and 25% for orders over £148
I decided to do Avon over kleeneze or betterware because I rarely buy things from kleeneze / betterware myself so I didn't think that I would be able to get many repeat orders whereas with Avon I find people need to replace make up / shampoos / underware more often.
I didnt start Avon for the MLM side but once I heard about it I decided that sales leadership would be a good way to earn to earn a bit extra and it fits in well with my full time job.
As your a student do you think fellow students would buy from you whilst your at uni or are they all short of cash? You could then sell to family and friends when you went home.Jan 2010 - Overdraft £9,500 / Credit Cards £5,000 / Loan £9,500 / Mortgage £128,000

Spent 90 minutes posting 150 catalogues.
Spent three 2 hour nights getting 130 back and 3 orders worth about £27.
God knows how long with paperwork.
Then try catching them in, and if there in they haven't got money on them and wife as taken cheque book out shopping. Who the hell takes a cheque book shopping when they have a card.
Face reality, your going to have to work for next to nothing for 6 months just to get a customer database.
That's what I got told by a moderately successful Kleenezee seller.

I'm an Avon rep, never tried Kleeneze or Betterware so can't comment on those.
Someone said earlier that you only get 25 books when you sign up. Might just be her sales leader cause when I started (wasn't that long ago) I got around 80 for each campaign. That's because I asked for more territory than she offerred at first and I basically got given one book for each house.
There are often problems with territory being given when someone else already does it. Quite often that's because another rep has expanded to an area where there wasn't a rep previously and not made their upliner aware.
The way I look at is is that I'm self employed, and although Avon likes to use the territory system, I am not an employee and I'll canvass where I want. I do my best to avoid other reps territory (it's not good for anyone's sales to give the same person two books cause they'll just turn round and say that they don't want anything to do with Avon any more). But if I know there is an area that doesn't get Avon, I'll do it myself and tell my upliner that's what I'm doing.
The best thing with Avon is that it's really cheap to start so it's not the end of the world if you want to give it up after a few months, that and the fact that I don't remember the last time I actually had to buy toiletries/make up as you can always get freebies by combining orders or back ordering!0
