    Hi Jo,

Sorry it all sounds so frustrating! that you are recieving such ill-thought through, knee-jerk risk-averse recommendations.

Really hope you are able to assert the birth you want.:T:T:T

Fascinated by your thoughts too at a personal level, being keen on a home birth myself, and unsure what to do if we go to 40+13. I know there is a template letter on homebirth.org to the head of midwifery care asserting that the woman has done her research and is still comfortable with a post-dates delivery at home. I can post the link if you'd like? Even if you don't want an HB now (sorry I've not read your posts so I'm not sure what you were hoping for!) you could use the letter to state a wish for a midwife-led birth?:D

Just a thought anyway! There are some stories on there of people being able to do things you aren't 'supposed to'!;)

    Love Weezl x

    Hi Weezl

Thanks for that - I know the letter you mean as I sent a copy of it to the Supervisor of Midwives when I had DD2 and got to 42 weeks. And I love the stories on the Home Birth site - it makes you have confidence in your own abilities to birth a baby and to ask questions rather than being passively accepting of what you are being told is the best course of action. Very empowering!:T:T:T

I am still on for a HB, was talking to the hospital midwives this morning when I went for baby monitoring, and explained that I still want a HB, and as far as I'm concerned, that is what will be happening unless we decide otherwise due to baby showing any signs of distress, or if we decide we've waited long enough and decide for a hospital birth by choosing induction. This was what I did with DD2 who was a planned HB also, she was born at 43 weeks, and it was through a scan and monitoring that we found the placenta was starting to calcify - bear in mind I'd been up there every other day at the hospital to be monitored and it was only at that point the day before she was born that anything looked wrong.

So whilst I felt disappointed that I didn't get the HB for DD2, I also felt justified in choosing induction knowing I'd worked with my principles in not interfering unless necessary for the health of baby or me and we'd waited as long as reasonably possible for a HB.

Been feeling a bit niggly this afternoon/evening, bit achy in the belly and wondering if it might be signs of things slowly happening. Can feel tightenings more when I'm up and walking about - and if nothing happens tonight I'm off to the hospital againf or monitoring tomorrow so going to get them to check out if anything is happening round baby way! :D

Thanks searching.. It's still in progress - I can smell gas but the gasman isn't looking worried! :o

Question.. when is a good time to have a 4d scan? Apparently our hospital does them out of hours and OH is interested - it'll be his overtime paying for it! ;) I'll pick up the info on Monday but just thought some one here might know in the meantime...

elle, the company I used scan from 20 to 32w and advised me that 26/28w was the best time due to babe still having a bit of room to move! I booked in at 32w as a last min thing with Jamie and the DVD and photos are not as clear as Poppy's one at 26w.

Gosh, DD's 19 and 20 just left. They can talk for England. I'm well worn out. How's everybody? Saw that MFD had a sweep earlier, hopefully get things moving for her!
