Sainsburys Bank PPI Claim

Sainsbury's is a sub-thingy of Bank of Scotland, that's why you get a reply from BOS not Sainsbury's.0

No I can't remember what I signed except that I paid extra to have the cheque delivered.
Thanks for the address above, as I sent my letter to:
Sainsbury's Bank plc,
33 Holborn London,
EC1N 2HT
as this was the address I found on the Sainsburys Bank website.
Haven't heard back yet, though I may send a letter to the Chester address as well?
I suppose my next step is to send them a SAR.0 -

Hi there
Sometimes a SAR can be useful to help your case.
You will find the template with details of this on the thread.;)

Hi again,
Received a letter from the Halifax Customer Care Centre today who I guess must provide Sainsburys Bank with the loans?
Anyway, they sent back my cheque for £1 and the letter says that they have been unable to trace my agreement with the info I provided them, which was my current address and the address I lived at when I took out the loan.
They are asking for a full history of my previous names (I've had the same name all my life!) and previous addresses (I've only ever lived at two different addresses and I provided both of them in the first letter!). Also a valid agreement number (which I don't have and told them this in the letter I sent to them).
I find it hard to believe they don't have any record of me as the loan ended in 2006.
Is this a case of them trying to fob me off or should I send them the same details again that I sent in the first letter?!
Thanks0 -

Hi there
They may be fobbing you off, I'm not certain, but if they do not provide you with these, you can always contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) who will look into this for you.
So I would ring them for the quickest result and see what they have to say here:

Good luck hun, please keep us posted.;) XXThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi All,
New to the forum but I am just starting the process of trying to reclaim PPI payments on a loan with Sainsbury's Bank that I took out in 2004. I have recently finished paying the loan off in full last month. Didn't want to rock the boat before paying the loan off as I didn't want it to go against me if I needed another one from them in the future. I have decided that I do not need another loan so thought I would try reclaiming the £4,042 that I believe I was coerced into paying WITHOUT any option to opt out. Like others, the cheque was delivered by courier and it clearly stated that the courier could give you 15 minutes to sign the paperwork and not to ask the courier for advise. I was pointed towards this forum through a web search and the advise that you give has made me decide to try. I have filled in a consumer questionnaire, found all my original documents and compiled a letter to Sainsbury's Bank that I intend to post this week. I have also kept copies of all the documents that I intend to send. Will keep you posted on how things progress, no doubt slowly, but I will not be put offSuccesses

Hi,
I had a loan with Sainsbury's from 2004-2009 put in a claim against mis-selling of PPI, I put my claim in at the end of May.
I complained on a number of things, but then found documents telling me about PPI - I don't want to repeat myself so see my rant on page 1030 of PPI discussion. I don't know how to cut and paste it here!!:o
If anybody gets round to reading this rant, is there anyone in a similar position?
I had totally forgotton about courier, having to show him valid ID and sign documents in an allocated time, wonder if that would make difference to claim?0 -

Hi irnbru74,
I am totally new to this process, only registered this evening, I have read your rant and I think you should still pursue your claim on the grounds that how can you be expected to read all of the paperwork in the 15 minutes the courier is with you, that puts you under pressure to sign right away. In my case I wasn't even aware that I was being signed up to PPI, let alone bronze, silver or gold cover. In my opinion it should have been stated from the initial online application that PPI will be added to you loan and exactly how much that will cost you, there is no way I would have accepted taking out a £10,000 loan knowing that a further £4,000 will be added to it for PPI, that to say the least is excessive. At the time I was and still am in a very secure job (30 years) and would never have knowingly agreed to PPI cover. We can all say with hind sight I wish I had read that better but 15 minutes is not long!Successes

This could be a very good reason,my friend had a loan with a courier bringing the cheque, she felt hurried and that she was wasting his time, hers was upheld and this was one of the reasons she used for mis sell,i am not saying that was the sole reason for being upheld though.
On the other hand, you would have had a cooling off period to look at the agreement and cancel the ppi if you did not want it.0
