I eat protein and fruit for breakfast everyday and it keeps me going til lunch. Things like eggs, tinned sardines, with either fresh or cooked fruit (without sugar), often at the weekend I'll have bacon and egg*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150

Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince, Dinner like a Pauper.
Stick to a low GI breakfast like Porridge and have a good sized portion. This will definitely keep you going to lunch. I have this (get up about 6.30) and don't have lunch till 1pm when I get back from my lunchtime gym class!0 -
I also try to listen to my body more.....if I am genuinely hungry around mid morning tea break I'll have some fruit....but I try and rate it from 1-10. If I am nearer 1 it means I am not really hungry at all but just eating for the sake of it....0

Either:
1. Make sure your breakfast includes a good source of protein and some fat, that will keep you going.
Or:
2. Factor in the snack! Grazing isn't actually bad for you, it helps keep your blood sugars level which is what, apart from habit, causes that 'tween meal craving. Having full meals and still snacking is what does the damage.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Don't beat yourself up...
porridge is a great suggestion
and if you include protein in breakfast you smooth out the G.I. effects, so no energy boost then slump.
You need low GI foods, porridge and an egg, perfect! Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
I'd have a bag of fruit, dried or fresh and snack on that instead of reaching for chocolate and crisps

Great advice everyone.:A
Think I might try a bit of trial and error. Egg on toast one day then porridge the next.
Maybe dehydration us playing a factor. Will try having some water when I get the hunger pangs!

i have hot oat cereal with hot water cant stomach anything else at 7am and this keeps me going til lunch at 12noon where i have soup and a couple of ryvitas.
my worst snack time is 4.30-6pm between getting home and dinner and try to keep myself busy as not too snack but if do get hungry I have 4 crackers with low fat marg or 2 slices toast and jam.0 -
As others have pointed out porridge is a good filler for breakfast especially as it has slow release qualities. The other option would be dry oatcakes - some people think they're a little like eating dry cardboard but they are quite filling.0

I agree with 2cats1kid, it's more about breaking the habit then what/how much you eat.
I used to work in an office where everyone used to snack at their desks and found myself going through loads of snacks throghout the morning (crisps, chocolate, toast, sausage rolls), then I moved to a different company where no one ate snacks and I felt like it would be frowned upon if you did and overnight I went from snacking all morning to just having a couple of cereal bars for brekfast then nothing till lunchtime (1ish). Sometimes I did feel a bit hungry but it was nothing unbearable and I think it was much easier because I didn't see having a snack as an option.
Is there something you can do to break the routine? Maybe stop taking snacks to work - although this would only work if there is no snack machine where you work. Or if you are friendly with your colleugues perhaps you could ask them to give you a hard time everytime you reach for a snack.0
