Preventing snacking between Breakfast & Lunchtime

I have a snacking dilemma. When I am at w*rk Mon-Fri I have breakfast around 7.30am everyday. Lunch is usually at 1pm. At breakfast I have 2 slices of toast with spread and honey or any other preserve in the cupboard. Along with that I have a cup of tea and/or fresh fruit juice.

My problem is I get the attack of the snacks around mid-morning. which ain't good for the wasitline. I try not to snack but then I am clock watching until lunch. It is not always appropriate in our office to eat at your desk either -(open plan, clients and senior staff in and out:rolleyes: )

Question: What do you eat at breakfast to keep you going until lunch? Should I just eat more??

Apologies if this has already been addressesd elsewhere so feel free to point me in right direction!

Thanks all:D

A bowl of Jordan's crunchy oat cereal, with natural yogurt & strawberries keeps me going until lunch without snacking......:)

    However, 2 Weetabix & semi-skimmed milk do not...

I find that if I have an egg or any other sort of protein food it keep me going much longer, just toast or cereal never fill me up for very long and I always get the munchies about 11.00 am!

    I second the porridge idea.

I have a bowl of porridge (you can make it with milk, water or non-dairy milks) with fruit, a little honey and flax seeds, and a glass of fruit juice.

If I get hungry between breakfast and lunch I have a glass of water or a cup of yogi tea and that seems to solve the problem.

Have a quick look at the new weight watchers. They have changed their plan recently so that you fill up on foods, I think it works on the GI Plan idea where you eat slow releasing energy foods. the idea is it fills you up and takes longer to feel hungry. also I think you are supposed to have a mid morning snack to keep the metabolism going so don't feel guilty about it just find the right stuff like fruit, yoghurt etc, you must surely get a midmorning break where you can leave your desk. good luck with the waistline.

Porridge made with water but 1T Elmlea cream and sweetener. Followed by a banana.
I try to follow slimming world plan. Cooked breakfast with eggs is always filling.

Yogurt and fruit just does not do it for me I am afraid.

I've recently cut out all snacks. I started off by increasing the amount I had at breakfast, as like you I found mid-morning the hardest time. So for a while I'd have a couple of slices of toast and jam/marmalade and also porridge or cereal. I'm now down to having a normal breakfast again.

I think it is more habit than need, tbh. When I managed to break the habit of snacking mid-morning and was comfortable that I *could* get through to lunch without, the amount that I felt I needed to eat decreased. I'm also gradually decreasing what I eat at other meals, still without snacking. It doesn't bother me at all at work now when colleagues get their snacks out, as I know I don't need it, and actually I don't want it any more.

So I'd try the same if I were you. Eat a stonking breakfast for a while and then gradually reduce it and see how you go.
  • I have a banana with weetabix it keeps me full till lunch
