of course for many of us in Britian .. British Airways is not really an option due to their lack of flights from regional airports

I have to agree with the OP, my experience of BA has always been fantastic and last time I wrote to thank the cabin crew. My toddler had a panic attack when we got on the aircraft and it was enough to test a saint believe me. They couldn't have done more to try and calm him (and me) down, I'll never forget that.

Just to let you know that NO crew are not recruited based on social background  thats crazy!

I would agree completely and I'd be interested to know what is behind voyagers claim?

  • I flew to Dar Es Salaam with BA in October. The crew on the way back were lovely... nothing bad to say about them, nothing outstanding either, they just did their job, was more than happy. However on the way there I was walking from the gate to the plane in near hysterics... I was leaving my boyfriend to go away for 6 weeks, and as I boarded the plane I was having a VERY last minute panic!! One of the crew members took himself away from the job he was doing to take me to my seat and talk to me until I had calmed down (only about 5 minutes later). Brilliant. If I'd have been ignored or looked down on, I'd have been hysterical a lot longer, or even worse legged it back into the terminal and missed the flight (and the amazing experience) completely.

  • Their crew may be fabulous...the reservation/ticketing department are not. With BA pleading drop in profits, you would think that they would gladly accept money for an urgent upgrade on an already booked flight. No, because their system is not working properly (so she said), someone would be able to contact me in a week to ten days, but by that time the flight will be over. Waste of a phone call and a waste of time.
It is funny how nearly everytime I fly with BA, they seem to put some sort of spanner in the works...they are useless (except the cabin crew)!
  • My friend is a BA cabin crew and he is fantastic LOVE him!

Thinking about it, I agree, I wrote asking for an extra bag free (as taking goods to a charity) and it took 6 phonecalls to get it agreed, then agreed in writing, then actually put on my booking. Maybe the cabin crew should get in the offices and shake things up a bit lol!
