They denied even having a complaints department when I phoned up. Incompetent and rude. Stuck between a rock and a hard place unfortunately and they know it!!
This is the link from their homepage for complaints

Hello All,
Well following my other thread on how I cant get a Current account, i got a letter today from HSBC saying further to there letter on 2nd feb they had not heard off me and if I wanted to proceed to call then within 7 days or they would take it as I would not want to containue.
Anyway I called and got though to a nice bloke, who took the number off the letter, he asked did I do it as a new customer as it looked as though they have linked it to an old account, no I said did it as new, so he asked som questions and dug into it and he said oh well it shows as a decline on my system due to a past credit card account which terminated in 2001 which is why it is decling my application,
I found it odd the other month when i appiled for another credit from them, got a nice letter beack saying they wouldnt give me a credit card but it wasnt due to my credit score, just they couldnt offer me one at the moment, my question is are they not meant to only keep records for six years I mean the bloke himself said there was very little on the files and he didnt know why it was linking to this from 2001, he has raised a query for me anyway and said I should get a call within the next 2 - 3 days
How odd, how long do banks and that actually keep data then, I mean its been well over 6 years since I was with HSBC actually it will probably about 8 or 9 and I seems unfair that they are decling me a current account due to this, the nice guy on the phone said he didnt understand it either as it shouldnt affect a current account application and that I shouldnt of got the letter I did today anyway.
How odd, arghh0
