I've just emailed voipbuster as I got a message saying I am over their weekly FUP of 300 minutes. I just checked my account and only used 227 minutes over the last 10 days so that's rubbish!
Similar here - voipcheap.com charged me for a free call claiming FUP exceeded despite only having used 254 mins over the last 7 days (rounding up to whole minutes).
I have a static IP and don't register through a proxy server, so no other calls could have been attributed to my IP.
Will see how it goes, but if it turns out that my average cost to call Aus is > 1p per min, I will switch to Fastvoip or stick with the International Call Checker non-voip providers.0 -

This overcharging issue has been going for years!
Why is it that Betamax / Delmont don't do anything to sort it ot for good.0 -

That is useful info, thanks.
This firm has more than it's fair share of issues with other people's money.
It would appear they have branched out (yet again), this time into the top-up style accounts.
I guess i'll have to filter them out of this category too now when looking for a provider.0 -
I don't see any mention of VIBER in the posts above. Its an app to use on a mobile phone and exists on iphone, android and windows phone (v7 and 8). Similar to skype (etc) its got messaging, voice calls and video calls included. Uses your data allowance.0

Possibly because this is the home phone section.:D0 -
If you have a BT telephone account you can use their app called Smarttalk to take your landline abroad. You just need a Wifi connection, a BT account and can phone anywhere on your current plan. It works on GMT, so you'll need to take that into account, but if you have an evening or weekend plan, you've effectively got free calls to anyone in the UK.0

you'll have to be careful of roaming charges, so i would not want to bother using that unless using the wifi provided in a hotel for instances.
i was looking into google voice but it seems you have to pay to use it. i tend to use local phone it may not be as cheap now but its the convenience and that it does work ok for meMy Signature is MY OWN!!0 -
Has anyone tried these apps for the mobile phones?
You earn credits by watching ads and downloading apps.
Credits let you make free phone calls from anywhere to anywhere.
All you need is a Wi-Fi connection.
I have been using TextMe and Upptalk for few months now.
Quality can be poor at times but okay with a good connection.
I haven't tried but KakaoTalk, magicApp and Tango also have apps for free calls.0 -
For actual free international calls I use makefreecallsonline.com - this is a browser based calling service and so you do need a PC or laptop to make a call.
Calls are 100% free to over 30 countries straight from your browser, you don't even need to register
Only two limitations 1. One call every 10 minutes 2. Calls last 3 minutes - :money:0
