He was on every single news channel and paper except the BBC.
Just another example of the Bias. Can anyone point to BBC1 broadcasts that mentioned this guy?

Can anyone point me to any source ever that isn't biased?

  • Haven't read most of this thread but having topped and tailed it I can summarise it thus - angry person with agenda calls BBC biased for not sharing his agenda.

I like bbc news too but sometimes I wonder if they are on a different planet from the rest of us thats all.

I will watch Newsnight occasionally and C4 news now and then. If I try to watch the main BBC and ITV news for that matter I can't because I get too wound up at the emphasis of puppies etc.

I would also agree with the HBOS whistleblower comment too re the beeb.

It's clear that you have a very negative view of the UK's prospects. It's clear that many posters on MSE take a more positive view. So if the BBC sits in the middle of both camps maybe that is them being unbiased?

Maybe it is scaremongering, but anyone who predicted a house price crash was labelled a scaremonger, and they also got next to nothing in terms of prime time news broadcasts, these same people now still don't get airtime.

There are facts and a growing number of people supporting the viewpoint then that opinion should be given airtime. If the proof adds up that the U.K economy is not going bankrupt then why not address the issue and point out the facts on both sides and let people make an educated decision.

However, the topic is avoided as much as possible and to the best of my knowledge has never been covered on a BBC news broadcast apart from when David Cameron said it - and I'm not even sure if that was covered, I couldn't find it.

So the BBC should give air time to every scaremonger in town?

I repeat why would the BBC want to talk about bankruptcy when there is no "real" evidence we are going bankrupt?
  • The problem with the "Britain is bankrupt" narrative is that it doesn't fit the facts. We have things bad - I don't think anyone denies that. But we're not the worst of the world by a long way.

The BBC has reported things like the IMF prediction that we'd do worst. And then when like so many of their predictions this turned out to be hooey they dropped it.

BBC is paid for by taxpayers without choice

It's paid for by the Licence Fee, this is paid by everyone with TV reception equipment, whether they are a taxpayer or not.

It shouldn't be hard to work out for anyone.

The BBC is controlled by the Charter signed by the Government. For decades the Government left the BBC alone. They were free to report the News, and show their bias whenever they chose.

The New Labour Government, with it's emphasis on presentation and controlling it's image, realised that via the BBC's charter, and the need to periodically renew, that they could exert a lot more "influence" over the BBC than most people thought.

This is not a Conspiracy....this is common knowledge.

Ever since the 'Dodgy Dossier' and the ensuing furore, the Government has been pretty open in it's threats to the BBC and their charter. Anytime the BBC or one of it's employees does anything to 'upset' the Government the first thing that is thrown out, are story's about not renewing the Charter, and changing the way the BBC is funded.

Again, there is no great Conspiracy here, it's all out in the open.

There is a world of difference between being unbiased and reporting facts which are not true. Or indeed, as you are suggesting, miss reporting by twisting stuff. If you report that it's going to be sunny today to lift the nation, but actually it's only sunny in 20% of the UK, the rest is hail and snow, is that being unbiased? No, it's only reporting certain things.

Like this morning, reporting that inflation is falling thanks to falling energy prices, falling petrol prices, falling food prices.

None of which is true. Energy has not fallen in price yet. Petrol did fall in price (which is how they can put that angle on it), but it's not falling anymore, so why they call it falling is beyond me. Food has not fallen at all, we have just, as a nation, spent less on food by switching to other food stuffs.

What the above does, is stop people getting wound up. If the BBC says falling petrol prices, people go away thinking things are getting better. They purposely twist things to the advantage of the government. Falling OIL prices is VERY different to falling fuel prices, but they lump it together and put this rosy picture across.

The people they bring in, are people well known to avoid the issues. They had someone on the other day on BBC radio talking about why the price of fuel is rising in the UK when oil is down to $40 a barrel (was at the time). He simply blamed the americans. This was a top energy bloke, and he didnt once mention the devaluation of sterling as a factor!? Well thats nice for Gordon isn't it!! Pile all the blame at the Americans while not mentioning any part in which our country plays?

Then switch to channel 4 news. At least you get the actual facts.
