Actually we are running the second largest budget deficit of the developed countries:
This in itself is no bad thing, however when viewed in the light that things haven't really gotten bad yet i.e. the impact of high unemployment has not filtered through to increased welfare payments this is extremely serious. Add to that predictions that the UK is forecast to have the worst recession in Western Europe and it looks worse still.

If anything, the IMF predictions have been over optimistic. Every prediction has been revised in one way: downwards.0 -

- Many posters in this thread talk about the dire state of the U.K economy.
I'm not saying I'm right about U.K bankruptcy, I'm saying its a real possibility and there is strong evidence to support it and it should, along with the other evidence that paints a grim picture for the U.K be addressed by the BBC.0 -

The BBC gives plenty of air time to businesses doing well in the economy, plenty of airtime to the prime minister and gordon brown. I just think it is fair for facts that paint a different view to be given airtime too.0 -

Still can't find this big story on the BBC for some reason.0 -
None of which is true. Energy has not fallen in price yet. Petrol did fall in price (which is how they can put that angle on it), but it's not falling anymore, so why they call it falling is beyond me.
Energy price have dropped significantly: my heating oil was around 60p per litre back in September and it is now less than 40p per litre. Which means I save about £220 per tankful.
That "good news" wasn't reported by the BBC either.0 -

It is interesting that he appears to pointing the finger with regards to loans to individuals, but the HBOS problems were caused by commercial loans 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
