neighbour using my house number-should i worry?

There should be a street/road naming and numbering person at your local council. Check first to see if they are aware of 22a - it would be that its not been added to certain databases therefore when the postcode is punched it there is no option for a 22a.
Its rather odd though - I would have thought that having different addresses screws with your credit rating so it would have been in his interest to get it sorted.0 -
my mate has a similar problem, its a nightmare getting dominos to find the house!
lets say his address is 6 green crescent, red street, everything gets delivered to 6 red street. what makes it even worse is 6 red street is the first one you pass as you walk down the street.
numbering should not be allowed to be as unclear as this. they should be given a house name instead of number, or just a completely different number.0 -
numbers should always be used..hubby used to deliver for a living, nightmare trying to find "rose cottage" in a large village,on a road with 200 houses!how people expect an ambulance to find them is beyond me!
22a should have a sign made,or i would make one!TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0 -
look on the address checker on the royal mail website to see if it's actually registered as 22a. In our old house, our house and the house to the left were both actually the same house until they got split back in 1920's at which point the right hand bit (our bit) became 49 and the left side became 49a. Didn't have any problems despite this and if any post actually came for 49a, I just stuck it into her mailbox. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

If it's not registered as that then I'd be wary of just returning post - especially if they continue to do it... You could give it them back once with "please correct your address" on it - or hand it back and say "oo look what someone's done - they've put the wrong number on it"
Then if they continue - write "no such address" on it and send it back.0 -

(I can't think of a good way to obscure the address to illustrate without giving too much away..., considering I've said which town I live in in my profile.)0 -
That;s quite a strange situation. You'd think after that many years that the postman would have recognised names that kept coming up. Can you tell the postman that anything with a particular name on it (your neighbour's) goes to the house next door and then point it out to him?0

In this example I'm assuming 'Green Crescent is a road of its own off 'Red Street' and that there are no.s 1-5 Green Crescent or even more.
The address should make no reference to 'Red Street' then there would be no chance of the delivery for 6 Green Crescent going to 6 Red Street. 10 Downing Street, Regent Street London isnt like this so why anywhere else (I'm sure no.10 isnt next door to regent st but you get the example)
PS Use Pizza Hut instead0 -
I wonder if online application for things means he has no choice to use 22a. Sometimes you want to (true MSE) apply for online gas tariffs or use money-back sites, so have to apply online. If no 22a is listed, he either uses 22 or applies over the phone and loses the online advantage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The issue is that is often happening.
If the post turned up occasionally then fine.
But if lots of post turns up including handwritten envelopes or postcards then it means he is giving out the wrong address.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
