I would give the money back, and would feel pleased at sharing the news of the voucher!! As others have said, it's up to the inidividual how they want to spend their £5!

This question could easily be rephrased "would you steal a fiver from your mates if you thought they wouldn't find out"

I would tell them as soon as I could and give it back as soon as it was convenient to keep my integrity which is far more important than a free meal off my friends pockets.

I would also offer it back or ask people if they wanted to put it to drinks with no pressure to. They can then put it towards their extra £10 a day!
This is quite familiar scenario to me as I have often used clubcard vouchers to take a group out to dinner, eg recent pizza hut/express, and people pay for their drinks or ask for tap water which is free.

Yes, I'd give the fivers back. If it was a fiver off the whole bill, I'd probably think about keeping it as compensation for the hard work (I'd not begrudge any organiser this - it's usually a difficult and thankless task that leaves the organiser out of pocket anyway) but a fiver EACH? That's just blatant robbery :p

Even if it was £5 off the whole bill, I would still tell them all, but I imagine they would tell me to keep it - I certainly wouldn't quibble over 50p per head! :rotfl:

As I understood it though, the MMD stated £5 per head.

No way would I pocket the money. It is somebody elses money and they deserve to have it - regardless of whether they may or may not find out.

bills at restaurants are always higher than you would expect, so put the cash towards the bill - that's what everyone put the money in for in the first place!

I'd deffo tell them and take the £5 off for each person - why should I be sneaky and make profit? It's one thing to save money and another to be dishonest and treat friends badly! Here's to friends' nights out!!

Goooooooooood lord I couldn't live with the guilt of keeping it quiet!

I would let them know and would definitely give it back to them, some may not want to spend it on a drink, I know people were willing to pay in the first place, but if you can get something cheaper hell I want it cheaper!

What a lovely thread this is. I too would give them their fivers, no question about it.
