Thank you to Leadhead for explaining to me the system of DTD.. . . .

    Just one more question -
went out searching the aisles yesterday, saw various offers and their end dates.

If you go in the day after the offer ends - surely the offer isnt valid, and as the end date is in print on the aisle - do they have to give you DTD? (I dont want to make a big !!!! up and demand a DTD if I am not entitled to it :o)
  • If they leave the SELs on the aisle then that is their problem - not everyone actually looks at the end date! I have had the majority of my DTDs on this basis, including some electricals.

Just beware though that sometimes the offer is carried over and they don't get around to changing the SEL - if you have scanners around the shop you use it's a good idea to scan the item to check the price. Of course, this doesn't work with BOGOFs and the suchlike so probably a good idea to only buy on out of date SELs with these if you would have when the offer was on, just in case.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • How does it stand with going in just after midnight on the last day of the offer as surely the can't get all of the labels away exactly on time. I take it they remove the labels before then to combat this. If you were to get buy one of the out of date offers must you take the sales rep to actually see the label, in which case it would not be possible to take the goods home and then come back after noticing the error as I would assume by then the evidence would be gone after a day or two.

Well just after midnight your CS desk will be shut - you might get someone on the tills to help, but this would be the exception rather than the norm.

Best to leave it until the following morning otherwise you risk having the SEL removed and the CS staff denying all knowledge.

You could take a photo of the SEL at the time, but this is raising your profile and CS staff will probably remember you in the future...

(I've only done the photo thing once)

    Good luck,

The tills do not update on the stroke of midnight. The prices change anytime in the early hours of the next day, but I've no idea exactly when.

Regarding the SEL's, they must see evidence of the advertised price, otherwise you could be making it up. It has been known for staff to remove the label and claim it wasn't there, so it's worth taking them to it yourself.

Hi, not sure if I'm in the right place but could someone help.

I have been overcharged on my sliced meat, I asked for 100g of meat was told it was under which I said was fine. After checking my receipt I was charged for 105g. When I got home (out of interest I may add as I would never normally do this) I weighed the item and it weighed 83g.

This actually means I was overcharged by 25% of the cost of the meat, I know it's only something like 16p but it is more the principal of the thing rather than the actual money.

Am I being petty or should I complain?
  • Might be worth a call to your local Trading Standards. They can check if the scales etc are wrong. This will help other shoppers. You might get some vouchers out of it later on as well if you allow them to pass on your details to Tescos.

Right here we go - my first misprice :j

OK - not a big one but still a misprice!!

Tesco Milk Chocolate Truffle Balls - SEL £1.93.

Charged £2.93 (normal price) - DTD back of £2.00.

Like I said - not a brilliant misprice, but still a misprice!!!!
