    Bonjour tout le monde!!!

We've had an absolutely lovely day, and am so relaxed I'm sliding off the chair and falling asleep. It was chilly, but bright. The restaurant we chose this time was really good, and I also managed to arm twist everyone to visit the Cathedral, which is splendid and has a fascinating astrolabe clock (I think that is what it's called - it tells the time, astrological signs, moon cycle, solstices, oh, all sorts).

Lots of shopping - DD loves looking for clothes, and I had a great time in a houeware shop called Casa, which is a favourite.Cakes, of course, then the hypermarket for all those essentials...three months supply of wine, and the petits pains au chocolat that I promised my Year 9 class - they start the topic of breakfast on Monday, so I'll feed them!

Flying?? Oh, I did the washing up before we left.

Quick catch up tomorrow I think...and that planning.

juliejim - I wasn't gallivanting! That was Continuing Professional Development - combined with research for materials for the next topic (food, see above):D

dusty - I'm so happy you had a great holiday! Welcome home, Happy Official birthday, and thank you for the good wishes.

  • Evening all! Not quite caught up on thread, but have read a few pages. Thanks for all the messages you sent me.
The funeral was lovely. There were people there who had travelled from France, Scotland (they left at 4am to get there  ), Wales, Hampshire, Kent, Chichester and all over Surrey to a small town near Gatwick Airport. The Kingdom Hall was completely full, and there were people standing up at the back! It was so nice. I think her family appreciated such a lot of people coming to pay their respects to her. The service was just what she would have wanted, and focused on her belief in the Bible and God's promise of a resurrection for the dead.
Everyone had a good chinwag catching up with each other too. There were people there that I have known all my life, but who had moved to various parts of hte country so it was so lovely to see them all. Mum met someone she last saw when they were both in their teens (in their 50's now) and Dad saw someone who he lodged with before he married Mum (they both lodged with the lady who's funeral it was). Dad also saw his best friend from childhood. I saw many old friends which was so wonderful.
It was an emotional occasion, but afterwards DH and I went back to Mum and Dad's and we were happily talking about who we had seen and Mum said: "Auntie Pam would so have loved to be there" and that was so true. She would have been there smiling and hugging everyone and probably been a little bit teary to think that everyone was there because they loved her. I know her daughter felt that way.

Haven't done much flying today, just washing up. Still nearly caught up, I always seem to be a sinkful and a half away from finishing it!

Who was it that got clamped a few weeks ago? An item on BBC South today was about a woman who won a case in the minor claims court with clampers. She said they are like modern day highway robbers - they held her up and took her car to ransom. She produced photos to show the court that the signage was inadequate and she won!

Well done everyone on what you have acheived today, you have all done well, especially in getting your OH's and children to do thier part! :T
