I've never had much success with eyeshadow.
During the 60s, I used to wear a bright blue one, that, after half an hour, settled into the crease of my eyelid, giving me a bright blue line of sludge.
As you can imagine, this, in tandem with my non-existent eyebrows, was, in retrospect, not a very attractive sight - but hey ho, we all looked like that back then.
Come the 80s, I went in for the smokey, sultry look, but alas, it just made me look like a P*ssed Panda, so I ditched that idea. Then about 10 years ago, I tried the "barely there" look, subtly applied, but I was so subtle, you couldn't see it!
Now, I feel ready to bravely go to new places, IYSWIM. So could all you Foxy Ladies advise an Ol' Gel what type of eyeshadow she should use. I am still looking for a smokey look, but I'm talking smoke rather than a Raging Inferno!
I have zillions of Perkies (can I use those?), and lots of points too. However, I don't think I'm ready for the "blend 3 different shadows on six different points on the eye area" yet.
Oh, and to make matters worse, I mean, give you all a real challenge, one eyelid is great, the other one is sort of hidden, due to a droopy brow one side. And I have quite a bit of excess skin under both eyebrows.
Apart from that, I can't really see a problem. All advice gratefully received. Thank you.

Hi Guys, Was Wondering If Anyone Could Tell Me Where To Put On My Eyes, The No7 Stay Perfect Mousse That Comes In The Gwp? Sorry But New To All This Make-up Malarky, Only Ever Used To Wear Mascara Now Seem To Have A Bit Of Every Make Going! TIA0

I've just tried the Body polish (sample from GWP) and the Olay Regenerist cream wash (£5.86 one). Both make my skin feel softer. Silly question is, can I use the Olay cleanser as a body cleanser? Or will it laugh at me and say "I only work on the bits you show off, not the hidden bits" :rotfl: ?
If I can get the Olay for 86p and the body polish is much dearer, seems silly to not just go for the Olay one, doesn't it?
No question is a silly question sweetie! I've used many things in my time (including Boot Polish for mascara about a million years ago!), and I'm sure my skin doesn't know if it's night, day or half past 3 in the afternoon, whatever cream I put on it.
If you feel happy with your Olay Regenerist, on all parts of your beautiful body, include the naughty bits, you go ahead. If Cleopatra could feel good bathing in asses milk, you rejoice in your lovely smooth skin!
I have also used shampoo for washing up liquid and vice versa at various times when I've run out, and I've found that bits of face cream that I no longer use, clean my shoes and boots beauifully! HTH

Ah, now I wonder if any of my creams would clean my white leather MBTs. They could do with a good clean, but ordinary spray polish doesn't lift any of the marks. :j
And on the subject of strange things that clean... A few years ago I couldn'tf ind anything to take ink off my leather settee. A friend then found a link on the internet that recommended hair spray. I tried it. I was at the stage I'd tried anything as the large ink mark would just not move. Success, the ink came off very easily. I've passed this on to many friends and they've found it wonderful too.0 -

Hi Sandra :hello:
My top tips for eyeshadow application (and just as importantly, making it stay put All Day):-
1. When applying your foundation make sure to take this over your eyelids too and follow it with your usual powder/bronzer (you could then use an eye-shadow primer but imo if you've applied enough [STRIKE]cement[/STRIKE] foundation you won't need this).
2. Using a generous sized brush apply a neutral shade all over the eyelid - something like this: http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?categoryParentId=4949&storeId=10052&productId=51162&callingViewName=&categoryId=4998&langId=-1&catalogId=11051 in "Innocence".
3. Then apply a shade like "Silver Lining" all over the bottom part of your lid - to just where they 'crease'.
4. Then apply a shade like "Comet" just in the crease and then blend, blend, blend!! I usually use a medium sized clean brush to do this or you could use your little finger if you're careful.
5. To really get the smokey eyed look you then want a decent black eyeliner, top and bottom (smudging the bottom gently so it doesn't look too harsh) and then a couple of coats of black mascara and Voila - smokey eyed goddess.
HTHI know you said you didn't want to have to blend dozens of colours in dozens of places but hopefully 3 isn't too many
You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

I'm well pleased after a trip into the city centre (Newcastle) today. Spent very little and got essentials and goodies!
1st shop
2 x Daily Elements Bath Soak 1.95 BOGOF
3 x Macleans Total Whitening Toothpastes reduced to 98p & 342
ROC Face Wipes, 1.49 after using wrinklie
1 (old) L'oreal Derma Genesis GWP, free with any skincare purchase of 5.00 or more
Total 5.40 & earned wrinklie, hairy & purplie
2nd shop
ROC Face Wipes, 1.49 after using wrinklie
Another L'oreal GWP (these are nearly all gone now)
P&P Hand Cream, free with purplie & ACM save 5.00 on P&P
Total 1.49
Unfortunately no JF 75ml hairspray left to spend my hairy on. I had a short consultation at the Clarins counter with a lovely SA and got 3 x mini products free.
In the Monument store I noticed there was a sign near the P&P face serum stating 'packaging may vary'. It might still be worth checking smaller Boots just incase they are reducing the bottled ones to half price, as I posted yesterday. HTH.0 -
Sandra, I love the 'p*ssed panda' description lol.
I agree with what Scarlett.1974 says, but would suggest that maybe you would be better off with a slightly less harsh eyeliner than black - I picked up Max Factor's Masterpiece Glide and Define eyeliner in'Smoke' by mistake a little while ago, and that is a grey colour, like a very soft black, so wouldn't really need smudging. I quite like it now.
I don't know if you use foundation, but if you don't I would recommend an eye primer such as Benefit's Lemon Aid or Urban Decays' Primer Potion all over the eyelid area - it helps your eyeshadow stick, and helps stop it creasing. Just don't apply it too thickly.
If you put a lighter (white or vanilla perhaps) eyeshadow just along your brown bone, under the eyebrow (what there is of it lol) it will help make your eye area look more 'lifted'0 -

I find baby wipes good for getting ink, crayon etc off of walls, furniture etc.0 -

I have been using the radox daily elements shower scrub, that was reduced to 49p and then BOGOF,
it is very nice and has exfoliating beads in.
I have several (huhum....lots...well they were only 86p with a wrinklie!) of the Olay face washes, which also have similar exfoliating beads and smell very similar too. I have thought that they would make nice body washes.
(They should be mild too as they are made to be used on the face).
I will be trying them out at some stage in the near future...so I will let you know how I get on.:)0
