I am sorry that you have had such a rough time. I think that the others have covered what you need to do
But I would also check whether you could claim (even now) for the funeral expenses eg for your father from the DWP. It is means tested but it would give you money to throw at the debts.
As regards the payday loans. If you pay mortgage, council tax, utilities and food, do you have enough left over to send each of your creditors £1 and have some left over to get rid of even one of the pay day loans? If you do then I suggest that might be a way forward. Yes this will effect your credit rating but if you have arrears on your mortgage then it won't be very good anyway.
Is there no one that you could ask for the money to pay the payday loans back? That would so set you back on the path to debt busting....
good luck

No I have nothing and no-one to ask left. No worries I'll get through it. Going to leave this now, finding it too difficult. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions and I wish you all the best of luck.0

Hi maddie
Try not to leave this site for too long - it really can help. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it is for you... even typing what has happened must be so hard.
Give yourself a few days break and just pop back on here when you feel you have the strength. We'll always be here xxxxxLBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never

A useful tip I heard once - apparently it is almost impossible to cry and eat at the same time. If you are on the verge of tears, and you wish to maintain composure, then try shoving Polos or similar in your mouth and chomp away - it actually works, it is really difficult to do this and cry simultaneously. Mind you, you probably look a prat with a mouth full of Polos, but if you don't want someone to see you cry it might be worth it! Keep up with the good work. One life - your life - live it!0

Hi Maddiem
You still have us sweetie and we'll be here for you whenever you feel ready to take another step forward.
Please dont go... you're part of the MSE family now. I totally understand that it might all still feel a bit too much, too soon - there is a lot to take on board and then just trying to find the strength to make the effort of dealing with one thing takes so much out of you. When you are ready, come back and let us know how you are getting on.
Will keep you in my thoughts.
Take care hun,
